I agree... the exam is over, and nothing we can do now can \"improve\" our standing
Exam over, kids and parents can finally relax. Go celebrate their effort.
One or two mcq, 2 marks qn will not be detrimental, unless anyone is aiming for full marks?
A kid i know, got AL4 in sci but in sec 1, kid got A1 for sci. Kid has been passionate for sci since pri.
Only from reading posts on qn here and there, I would choose paper is poor conductor. Without the actual qn, we are only guessing.
Since we don't have the exact question of what is being asked... it's impossible to guess what the right answer is. -
Yup exams over but still curious to know the correct answer….so just discussing la, no harm also. 😃
I think the candle sits on a cardboard base and not touching any metal directly. Also, the metal piece is used as a handle. If it is in direct contact with the heat source, it would be too hot to touch isn’t it? -
Hypothetical scenario - PSLE score 7M.
First choice: HCI (COP 7M)
Second choice: RV (COP 9M)
If not successful in the first choice due to a tie-breaker ballot out, based on the PSLE score of 7M, will the child be admitted to the second choice, RV without any tie-breaker/ballot? Will priority be given to those who opt for RV as the first choice with their PSLE score of 8 or 9D? -

The computer will look at merit first, then choice order.

So your score of 7M will get the RV seat first before any 8 or 9D (even if they put as first choice & u put as last choice). -

For the above, merit over order.

Anyone knows what was the compo topic for the CL paper today? -
The question was ,according to my child, a paper lantern with a candle and flame inside. The metal wire was on top of the candle used to hold the lantern. Paper is a poor conductor of heat so the paper conducted the heat away from the flame at a slower rate causing the paper to turn brown and burn. The paper lantern did not catch on fire. One question the GEP boys are arguing right now is the question where the ball was pushed upwards causing it to move in a curve and they asked what was false about forces. 1) The push force was used up causing the ball to fall (My son’s answer)
2) The weight of the ball caused the ball to slow down. I would appreciate your opinions on this question. Thank you! -
Got it! Thanks Zac’s mum and 00Skyblue00!

Yeah, there's no part of the lantern directly in contact with the flame, but the metal is positioned right above the flame, receiving the most heat. The paper receives its heat through conduction from the metal

Otherwise, why doesn't the cardboard, which is also a poor conductor, catch fire? -

This question asks you to choose the incorrect option, and 1) is that incorrect one.
1) The push force was used up causing the ball to fall (My son's answer)
2) The weight of the ball caused the ball to slow down. I would appreciate your opinions on this question. Thank you!
As the ball leaves the spring and rises, there is no longer any push force acting on it. so its subsequent falling is not due to the push force being used up.
