Any recommendations for GP tuition (other than indigo)? I heard many hwachies going to indigo and classes tended to be oversized.

From 2026 onwards, UAS computation will max at 70. So how does this change translate to 4th subj in A levels? Any adv to take it in H2 over H1?

Students in top JCs will still be taking 4 H2?

30 years ago, when we needed only 3 A-level subjects for university admission, many were taking 4 A-level subjects. Today, even though they only need 3H2+1H1, many are still taking 4H2. And also today, even though only 6 O-level subjects are needed for JC admission, many are taking 8.

So I think come 2024 JC1, when only 3 H2 are needed for 2026 university admission, there will still be many who will take 4 H2.

Is it true that if student only has one elective humanities (triple sci) eg. SS +Geo, student can only take H1 Geo in JC. To take H2 Geo, one must have pure Geo in O level? Does this affect JC selection?

Where can I refer to on the above?

Does anyone have the computation formula? At which point eg ABB or ABC and below will the 4th subj scores be more significant? Or at which the 4th subj eg A or B would it be useful to improve the RP?

As far as I am aware, there is no prerequisite requirement to have done upper Sec Literature or History, to read the corresponding subjects at H2 level. Subjects like China Studies in English, also do not have a prerequisite. Neither does Computing, though some schools administer an entry test. I am not sure about Geog - do check with the JC involved? I would be surprised if upper Secondary Geog is a prerequisite. To do Geog at NUS has no prerequisites at all, not even secondary school Geog.

Done a back of the envelope calculation before , to gauge under what scenario the 4th subject can improve the RP score. It’s when the 4th subject grade is better than the averages of the 3 compulsory subjects. If it’s a BBB, an A in 4th subject will improve the RP. a B or less will not improve the RP. If ABB, a B in 4th subject will not improve RP. An A will improve RP.

It hasn't been released yet, as far as I know.

It depends on the student. Some will choose to take the minimum so they have more time for each subject (or to have time for other things besides studying). Some will choose to take more simply because they are enthusiastic about learning, and are fairly confident they can manage it. Some will prefer to have a 4th subject, just in case!

There are students who take H3 as well, just because they want to, even if it doesn't really help them get into university.
