Yeah, that is my understanding too.. wrong?
I m not sure too..coz when the AL system was abt to be introduced, it seems to be quite complicated and I didn't follow the discussion thoroughly.

On ranking of choices. It doesn't matter right ie student A with AL14 put Z school as her 1st choice while student B with AL13 put same school as 4th choice. Student B will get admission first.
          Yes, that is correct.

The student with the higher AL score will always go first.

The “problem” with the AL score system, however, is that you will see a bunching up of scorers around 15 to 20 due to the way the AL points are distributed. Hence, rank placement for schools in that zone can become a lot more tricky.

Floppy…I read again and this ‘However, COP is only part of the picture as rank placement also plays a big part now.’

May I know what is this referring to?

              See above edited message.

Simply, there will be more 15 pointers than, say, 8 pointers. Therefore, schools with COP around 8 (for example) are less likely to change (drastically) compared to schools with 16 point COP.

If a wave of students with 14 points flock to a school with 17 points (maybe the sec school was actively reaching out to the nearby primary schools or the school introduce something exciting), the COP or remaining places can change by quite a bit. A 15 or 16 pointer who pick the school as the 5th or maybe 6th choice thinking it was safe maybe disappointed as other 15 or 16 pointer who have placed the school among the top 3 choices will get in first.

                :yikes:

Something like many students get 15-20 for schools in that zone..so eg when a big group of students with same AL15 applying to same school that has less than capacity to absorb all. So will further sort by HCL for SAP school then citizenship etc?

Sorry. I’ve edited the message to make it clearer but generally, yes.

SAP schools are quite unlikely to face the problem since HCL is already part of the sorting process.

I just list out all schools shortlisted, if she gets al6, more headache for us, haha.. national JC is the farthest, I stay in Pg.. will take more than 1hr traveling daily for her.. really not a good choice considering the amount of time on the road ..will be damn tiring for her with those heavy jc load..

My guess.. moe have all the scoring and numbers. Your al1 may not be the same as my al1 if base on scoring. And knowing they like to use number to rank, not hard for them to decides who get in first even both student score the same Al..
