Hi may I ask if any parents here have kids or know of anyone’s kids who made it into PLMGS without affiliation and also not through DSA? I saw the cop for G2 is AL21-23 but I wonder how many seats are there for non affiliated students and if there is any balloting done for the last intake.
My gal scored AL22 and she wants to put PLMGS as her 1st choice but I don’t want her to lose her chance of getting into her 2nd choice if she doesn’t even stand a chance for 1st choice.
Appreciate if anyone can share more as I couldn’t get any info from the staff when I called up the school to ask. Thank you! -

PLMGS G2 or N(A) COP has remained at 23 for the past 3 years since the AL system was introduced. So there’s no harm putting it as 1st choice as there is a good chance of her getting in.

Many girls have made it into PLMGS (Sec) without affiliation and DSA. Not completely sure about the specifics of the last intake but there are typically 2 classes of G2 students each cohort, which would mean about 80 girls. 20% of those places, or 16 places, are reserved for girls from other primary schools including those who enter through DSA. Historically, PLMGS has admitted a higher proportion of N(A) and N(T) girls from other primary schools than Express stream girls so there are probably more than 16 places for non-affiliated girls. Also, there would be less competition than a mixed school as only girls are eligible to apply.
All the best! I really hope you get a place in PLMGS as it has a great N(A)/G2 programme -

Hi, with AL6M, is it safe to put
1) RGS (6)
2) NYGH (7D)
3) SCGS IP (8)
Thanks ! -
Hi can I check in cases of appeal, is it left to individual school’s consideration who to admit based on internal criteria (eg affiliation, talents etc)? Just imagining if my son didn’t get his first choice (exactly the same as the school COP) and assuming the COP doesn’t change, is it even worth appealing? Any one with similar experiences to share?
Thanks. -
Sharing the zoom link I received for the third language webinar!

Are you (or your child) a primary 6 student looking to take 3rd lang next year? Wondering where to find more information about 3rd lang?
Look no further! This year, Polyglot Club SG is back again with the 3rd instalment of the \"Making Your Choice!\" webinar for Primary 6 students! With seniors sharing about their experiences taking Spanish, French, Japanese and German at MOELC, join us for a look into the MOELC classroom as we share about the benefits and challenges of picking up our respective languages - as well as the MOELC overseas language immersion trips!

It is worth appealing if the school is your child’s dream school. There is a slight chance to be called for interview after S1 posting result is out.

I have a friend’s daughter successfully appealed to her dream school. -

Hello parents,
DS' school of choice is ACS Indep. He scored AL7 for which we are grateful.
Dilemma is whether he should try for
- First choice - ACSI IB which had balloting last year at AL7 (from what we read in this platform)
- Second choice - ACSI SEC which had balloting last year at AL8 (again based on what we read here)
He is afraid if the cut-off for both IB and SEC is each reduced by 1 point (+balloting), he may not get either as he has placed ACSI SEC as his second choice. As parent, I would like him to try for IB but i don't want to cost him his chance to be admitted to his school of choice.
I am even thinking of putting SJI IB as third choice (cut off last year was AL8), but that might be risky too.
Any views would be much appreciated!
Haha, school choices are just as stressful or i am overthinking it.
If ACSI is really my son’s choice , then I would put O level at first choice at at AL7. Even with that , there’s still a risk that the cut off might move unfavourably to take balloting risk . Why take an even riskier position of trying for IP at AL7? You might really end up with nothing .
The O level boys can take test for transfer to IP at end of sec 2. Your son can work towards that .
