          Dear Client,

Safe and Reliable Cord Blood Banking Services at StemCord

Thank you for entrusting your child’s cord blood with us here at StemCord. We refer to the recent news you might have read about Cordlife Group’s suboptimal storage temperature for cryopreserved cord blood and we would like to assure you that your child’s cord blood remains safely stored with us. StemCord is in no way related to Cordlife Group. We are two separate companies and we operate differently from them.

StemCord Is Audited and Licensed by Ministry of Health, Singapore

StemCord is audited and licensed by the Ministry of Health, Singapore (MOH). MOH inspects our laboratories routinely on a biennial basis and recently conducted a targeted audit of StemCord in November 2023, focusing on the quarantine, storage, and distribution of cord blood units. They have found no temperature excursions of concern at StemCord and have stated this in their announcement found on their website on 30 November 2023 to provide assurance to you.

StemCord Is Southeast Asia’s First and Four-Time NetCord-FACT Accredited Cord Blood Bank

Besides being audited and licensed by MOH, StemCord voluntarily seeks, follows and continues to maintain a rigorous accreditation process determined by NetCord-FACT (Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy and NetCord). We have been awarded the accreditation in 2011, 2014, 2017 and 2021. What this means is that you can continue to rest assured that your child’s cord blood is in good hands.FACT-NetCord’s strong focus on stem cell banking brings greater benefits to you, including ensuring the high quality of cord blood units and desirable outcomes for patients.

StemCord Is Dedicated To Maintaining the Highest Standards of Quality Control

From 2007, StemCord has practised split storage for better safety and security for your child’s cord blood. The cord blood is stored in multiple cryo units as a security measure, for greater peace of mind and the possibility of use in future treatments. In addition, we have split up the cryo units and stored them at two separate locations.

Contingency Plans and Systems In Place Within StemCord’s Laboratories

Our laboratories feature computer monitoring systems that limit entry to the cryogenic vault strictly to authorised personnel. There are also communication systems that maintain constant contact with our technicians while monitoring the laboratory and storage areas. The facility and systems are monitored twenty-four hours a day, 365 daysa year, to ensure the long-term security of your child’s cord blood.

Liquid nitrogen maintains the temperature at below minus 150 degrees Celcius in the storage tanks and the storage tanks do not depend on electricity. AC power is required for the functioning of the monitoring systems to determine and check all parameters of the tanks, e.g. the level of liquid nitrogen, opening/closing of the valves etc. A backup battery is used when there is a power shutdown, and this battery can last up to two days. If the backup battery is not working, we can still transfer the liquid nitrogen manually into the storage tank.

There is also an alarm system that will notify all key personnel of any emergency and the backup battery for the alarm system can last for at least an hour. In case the AC power is shut down, the backup battery will allow the alarm system to notify the key personnel of the power failure.

Successful Engraftment Demonstrate Cryopreserved Stem Cells Work

StemCord has also released and transplanted stem cells from bone marrow and peripheral blood. Stem cells were first collected, processed and stored at StemCord’s laboratories, and subsequently used in conventional stem cell transplants to treat patients with cancers such as lymphomas, myelomas, leukemias, germ cell tumours and sarcomas. The successful engraftment for these patients is a testament to the reliability of StemCord’s stringent processing and storage methods.

We Value Your Continued Trust In Us

Thank you for being with us on this journey in providing Hope for the Future. Should you have any queries, please call us at (65) 64712002. We look forward to assisting you in any way we can, and to building an even closer relationship with you.

No Irregularity of Temperature Excursions in Other Licensed Cord Blood Banks

                16. To provide assurance to parents who have stored their CBUs in the three other licensed cord blood banks in Singapore, MOH has conducted a targeted audit of these banks from 15 to 22 November 2023, focusing on the quarantine, storage, and distribution of CBUs.

                17. Our investigations have found no temperature excursions of concern at the other three licensed cord blood banking service, namely Cryoviva (Singapore) Laboratory Services, Stemcord Private Limited and the Singapore Cord Blood Bank.\"

Your attempt to market for the rival company is in extremely poor taste. Especially when we are grieving right now.

Is the communication you received a confirmation that your cordblood is affected or a notification of the event (investigation still underway if affected)?

                    Am keeping fingers crossed.
