I was trying to search for IB results (indicative hope see some IB points) to the courses in local U but couldn't find it. Anyway to see them for some rough estimation?

And I think I saw something I understand as in my own words..'Any' poly cert in Merit & in Distinction can apply to 'Any' courses in a local U. I was like huh True?? Or is it difficult to get the Merit & Distinction or maybe just don't get any exemption in the Uni courses.. provided successfully accepted (most importantly)?
Attended local uni talk b4. Were told there is no quota for ib, poly and A, each will be assessed by own merits.

I think merit award in poly is top x%, not easy too.

Really hv to see what course in uni and competition? Just take Bizad. For nus, RP should be around 85 for A and 3.8+ (out of 4GPA) for poly (read from Reddit). I am sure for nursing the Criteria is much lower.

There aren't enough students with IB applying to local universities to provide a large enough sample. There may be online sites with some info, though not official. Schools that offer IB may be able to give some info on this. If you are going to visit them, maybe you can ask.

Note the difference between \"eligible to apply\" and \"will get a place\". Someone with just the minimum to apply probably has little chance to get a place. For NUS: A quick glance at the poly GPAs at the 10th percentile shows that they are 3.5 and above. For SP (only looked at 1 poly), a Merit cert is >GPA 3.0. Didn't see any info about Distinction cert.

There are SIT and SUSS now. Heard their poly intake are higher. Costs are like other local uni costs

How many will go civil service, Min?
Stat Board no need local uni now. The poly to priv uni i mentioned, in stat board.
3 in 10 stats apply to local uni. Shld be more for private uni
The civil service does employ graduates from overseas universities! Ton loads of scholars plus other non-scholars too. But maybe that's not what you meant to imply?

Admission to local universities from a couple of the JCs and MI is around 30%, from what I hear. Others will go to overseas universities, or study in other universities from Singapore (remotely). In selecting these \"private\" universities, their reputation and ranking will count when applying for a job, whether in the public sector or private sector, though interview performance and other skills will probably be just as important.

Yes, those are good routes for those who want to move on from poly. But their course choices are more limited.

                  Thanks ladies.

Will chk with SUSS. Seems their certs are only day courses not to continue to degree. And from the preliminary findings… the 2 yrs btw O and degree need to be bridged unless go by the Adult Learners then need 25yo+4yrs working experience.

Btw, when we say 3 out of 10 Poly/MI to local Uni. That means 3 in 10 from Poly/MI can go local Uni right …not the 3 of 10 students in local Uni are fm Poly yea…coz if latter then out of 10 in local Uni students, 3 fm Poly, 3 fm MI then bal 4 fm A+IB, doesn’t sounds right.

Yes, meant to say that the main bulk of employment is still in public service, not civil service. As lee_yl was pointing out that the criteria for getting into civil service still requires traditional local uni degree and those scholars incl of course.
However, main bulk are now from all sorts inclu pri uni w local presence. Heard they give exemption as course is relevant hence grad earlier. It may worked out to be the same as A level students.

SUSS has full- and part-time undergrad courses. But she will need A levels/IB/Poly diploma to apply. I would strongly advise you to send her to some academic course for at least 2 years before going to university - going to university too young will make it hard for her to cope socially, even if she manages academically.

For the stats, your first case is the correct one. About 30% of MI/Poly students get into local universities.
