Hi,


My DS also had eczema when he was a baby. He is now 2 and a half and seems to have outgrown it. I breastfed him too.

I went to a homeopathist. She prescribed something and both she and my PD advised me to use calendula cream. I also use Cetaphil and Mustela range of baby products for him which works.

I use to wipe down his body quite a bit and moisturize, moisturize and moisturize. Also used cotton clothing for him.

My hubby got ezcema after his brother and nephew got it. Then my elder son got it. My baby got it when he was few months old. It seems contagious. I am still breastfeeding my baby. He is 24 months now. His ezcema flare up when he perspires. His condition is much better though from all joints to right ankle joint now.

Whether is it contagious or not, it depends on oneself as old saying....If you are scare, then you will get it...If you are not afraid, then you won't get it.

It reminds me of my childhood time, my auntie's unit is just below ours. So most of the time my auntie's children (3 dd) & me will play together...
One day, one of them caught the chickenpox & scare the two of them away wherelse me just keep sticking with the \"chickenpox\" cousin...eventually two of them got it except me.....haiz....ít's like that de lor...Lolx... :celebrate:

Hi all… ezcema is never contagious… but if you have ezcema and any of person around you has it… best is not to stay too close to each other. Otherwise, you would have the "itchy" feeling psyochologically… I am having ezcema eversince primary sch and never outgrow it even now in my thirties… I would say ezcema is in control, but if it goes to adulthood… it’s very hard to go away… My brother just didn’t get it…

I think it probably runs in the family, not contagious, its genetic.

Yes, tree nymph is right. Eczema dermatitis is not contagious. My son has it since infant years, even till now at 8. His skin is very dry, and can't sweat too much, if so rashes flare up. Unfortunately, he has multiple allergies inherited from me :-(. Grandpa has food allergies, so it runs in our family.

Just out of interest, did anyone's child who has egg allergy and eczema, had a bad reaction to vaccination? My son went downhill after a vax, and this was before we found out about his egg allergy. I really don't know if there's any relationship, but we were so spooked we had put the other jabs off until he's older and needs to go to school.

My son avoided this bad reaction to vaccination when he was young because our pediatrician advises us not to, as he was then allergic to eggs. Every allergy reaction was trial and error. Therefore, the MMR booster (if I'm not wrong) was done in school only last year when he turned P1. The nurse actually called and double check if I was sure if he should go ahead with the injection. So I said yes, as I feel his immune system has improved, and since K1 to P1, he can eat a lot of more diary food (that he was allergic to).

After the jab, he was fine, there were no flare ups. So relieved with the result, I let him try fried eggs and wala, he can eat eggs now!

My boy has been having itch behind his knees and on his fingers for 2 weeks. There are no signs of mosquito bites so we thought it was a heat rash and applied cream. It seemed to help at first but now it only provides a bit of relief for a short while. Last night he woke up crying due to the itch and was scratching like mad. It stopped only after I put ice pack on it.


Now I think it may be eczema. Will prob bring him to the doctor tomorrow.

Does anyone have kids with eczema? It's like little bumps, not really red. I was reading about it online, seems there's no cure! Any recommendations?

Unfortunately, there is no cure for eczema. I suffer from it and it leaves ugly scars on my legs

I attended a forum on atopic eczema last week at SGH.


The dermatologist give us a reference website which I think is very educational. You can read about the care, treatment, relief of eczema. There are also games and children's books for download all related to eczema. They also teach you FTU (finger tip unit), a guide about how much cream to apply.

I took the dermatoglogist advice and bought from Guardian a ceramide moisturizer cream for eczema on my foot. It has worked very well for me. Ceramide cream has higher lipid and more moisturizing. It's much more expensive ($22+ for 75g) but my problem only on small area, so it's okay.
