all the top academic students (top 10%) identified by PSLE, most of them will enrol into IP schools. And statistically , these students should continue to perform better than non IP students (outside top 10 %) in A level examination 6 years later. Buy why NYJC , with all its students from JAE intake (outside top 10%), consistently outperforms many IP JCs in A level?

This discussion stems from the particular ip jc topic earlier? Saw that but cannot be bothered to take offence. Let them be in their ivy tower. All the bullsxxt implying ip better than Jae.... Lol i thought time has turn back to 60s or 50s....
Makes one wonder if the trouble started from creating ip, just have everyone take o level and prove their superiority if they really think so. I recall reading abt some from ip actually wanted to take o level exam but not allowed. Like how gep kids do extra in sch but still take psle.
When students be it I or J or A or B enter JC, they are all just students. I believe the kids mostly think so. Maybe it is just parents.

Hi. For the Year 6s (AY2024) in our school, IB MT B SL results (average grade ~6.8) are also released today. The cohort sat for their papers in Nov 2023. If the student does not obtain a grade 7 (a score of at least ~84% in this sitting), a breakdown of each component would be given to them. That is, scaled marks for oral, paper 1, listening, & reading

We are new to post O level posting selection too. Also read it as you did but weren't sure. Hence seeking confirmation.

my child is keen in sci stream and his score is 6. we stay in the north and prefer to save on travelling. but choices seems limited for we are looking at JC in the north.

the ones he is keen is nyjc and ejc as they are nearer to our place. asjc has moved to north east. but his score cannot meet nyjc cop and just met ejc cop. heard its very competitive this year. may or mat not be able to get into these 2 JC.

what other choices can i choose? any advise?

You can refer to last year 2023 Cut off point, into various JCs. All JAE 2024 batch can refer that online booklet, to check. Inside the booklet MOE already published clearly, what is the Cut off point, for each JC -


for both Science stream And Arts stream.

With nett 6,
your son can still try Eunoia Junior College. Try, because this year (2024), Cut off point into Eunoia JC (Science stream) : may or may not remain at nett 6. Therefore, your son must cast his fishing net wider, into the ocean.

Your son can also try

National Junior College (Science stream), or try

Anderson Serangoon Junior College (Science stream)

As for the remaining other choices left, to fill up your Form A, to be submitted by

next Tuesday 4 pm dateline,

u will need to refer to the online booklet. Inside contains a very detailed listing of

last year 2023 Cut off point, for each individual JC. Everything is all there. You can see for yourself.

Distance wise, u need to resolve yourself.

you can rent out your current flat for monthly income

in turn rent another place for a short period of next 2 years, to be closer towards your JC.

For JAE students who are applying into INDEPENDENT Junior Colleges like (RI, Hwa Chong),


you can refer to your Form A.

Inside this form,
if you qualify for ESIS scholarship, that is,

if you fall

within Top 5% of the entire

2023 Sec 4 cohort,
who have sat for the O-level exam, it will be stated inside this Form.

The posting of JAE students, into the various Junior Colleges, is based upon your " NET " L1R5 score.

Not based upon your original, Raw score.

Example

For Eunoia Junior College whose Cut off point was Net 6 points (L1R5) for
Science stream,

in last year 2023 O-level batch (born in year 2006) -

JAE students with original Raw 6 points will be posted into Eunoia Junior College first,
before

those JAE students with (7 - 1 for Cca point) : who in turn, will enter EJC first, before

students with (8 - 2 for Cca points), etc.

In other words,
the lower or the better your original Raw (L1R5) score is, you will go in first, before others.

Not everyone get 2 points for Cca.
Some JAE students only get 1 point, for their Cca discounted (offset).
