Hi,
I am considering whether to transfer my boy from his full day preschool to St Hilda’s kindergarten. He is currently K1 and I realized that although he is having lots of fun in his preschool which emphasize on learn through play curriculum , in reality, he is behind in his reading and writing as the school is not academic driven. They do not even have language readers which i realize is important for K1 onwards. His teachers also feedback that his attention span is short during lesson time. That’s why, I am thinking of putting him in a more academic setting where he could focus on building a good foundation before going to primary 1 in 2 years time.
Could anyone please share with me whether the curriculum in St Hilda’s prepares the kids for primary 1? Are the teachers patient and what is the class ratio like? Also, do you send your kids for additional enrichment classes beside school? And most importantly, do your kids enjoy going to school since it’s quite academic driven?
Hope to receive any form of feedback soon. Thanks. -

I know few kids who went to St Hildas from start and quite liked it.
But there will be some adjustment process if moving from play way to kindergarten.
Also, not sure if there are vacancy. They are quite full normally. -
Can anyone tell me about the timing of the school, I note that they have a morning and afternoon session. 8.30am-11.30am and 12pm -3pm.
Does this mean that it is only 3hrs of school each day? which session w be better? morning or afternoon?
Many thanks! -

Hi, I have just enrolled my son in N1 next year. As morning classes are full, i placed him the afternoon class. As my brother was in St Hilda's before, my mum review it was quite good. And also, character developement is good there too. They prepare the kids for primary school . I heard from my mum the \"Ting Xie\" aka chinese spelling is quite intensive. -
I just registered my son last week for 2014. Just a little concerned that 3 hours seems a bit too short. Does the school provide any additional enrichment for a fee?

Hi,
am considering sending my child for N1 next year, I understand the morning sessions are already full, however, if I were to put my child in the afternoon session, since my child will need to take a school bus, it seems she will arrive at school in the late morning, and I have no idea how she will manage her lunch. Anyone who send their child for the afternoon session by school bus can shed any light on this? -
My kids went to St Hilda’s. Prepare them more than adequately for p1 and maybe even up to p2. I like that they have daily homework (can complete within 10 minutes) and weekly spelling and ting xie.
Am not sure what is the arrangement now as my kids are in secondary and upper primary now. But during their time, many parents request for the principal’s (Ms Buckland - not sure if she is still there) class. She is very committed.
They also run the Reading Club on Sunday afternoons. This is to teach the children how to read. Highly subsidised and effective. -
Hi, I am seriously thinking of putting my girl at St Hilda after hearing good things about the school.
The issue is my family is Buddhism and St Hilda is a Christian school. Though I have spoken to the school and they mentioned it is open to all races and religious. I need to know is there any parent who is from other religious but has put their kid here before. Can share your experience?
