Totally disbanded, this year.
Any idea what's happened to those net 5 students who got balloted out of NYJC Sci but put NYJC arts as 2nd choice? Do they get to transfer to Sci stream? Technically met the COP, wonder if sch allows such scenario?
If you are a 2024 nett 6 Arts pupil who entered by Arts stream but want to do Science stream inside NYJC this year, Sorry, not allowed anymore. No more so called \"flexible\" subject combination anymore.
If you still want to do Science stream,
then,
u would have appealed to more than one JCs, and would have received your appeal result (news), by now. Those whose appeal was successful, they have already transfered out of NYJC.
In fact, by Thursday (8 Feb),
the JC (1) batch of students have also been informed, what is their 2024 subject combination allocated by NYJC. The only thing that is still unknown, is only their class called CT, which will be released when they go back to school, next week.
Example
Inside one single PCME subject combination, there are a lot of CTs. When they go back to school next week, school (NYJC) will then release news to them : which CT group are they allocated to.
But as far as the 2024 JC (1) subject combination is concerned, the students themselves,
both from (Arts + Science) stream, have already been informed by school, whether they have gotten what they wanted, or not. This, has been settled.
Conclusion
=========
If you are in Arts stream, the very most u can do is \"hybrid\" subject combination. That is : (2 Arts + one Maths + one Science). That's all !
You are not allowed to take up PCME nor BCME, anymore. If you still want this, Sorry, by now, you would have already appealed to more than one JC for Science stream, and by now, the JCs would also have informed you, of the Appeal outcome : Yes or No. -
So do take note,
for next year’s batch intake of 2025 JC(1) applicants, born in the year 2008, applying for NYJC.
Take a leaf, learn from this year (born in 2007) students.
So, DON’T go and put
first choice (NYJC Science) and
second choice (NYJC Arts), anymore.
No more loop hole !
One more thing.
If your L1R5 nett is 5 or 6,
It is actually safer to apply for
Eunoia JC (Science), instead of
Nanyang JC (Science).
Why ?
Because some nett 5 students, also cannot get in for Science. If your nett score is exactly equal to the Cut off point for that stream, some students failed to get in during balloting, for those last few number of seats left.

majority of the seats have already been snapped up by the nett 3 and nett 4 students -

Hence, Sg citizenship priority takes precedence. The last 2 seats will go to the two SCs. But one will enter first, before the other. The better the Raw score, this person will enter , first. So,
7-2 (SC) will enter first, before the next one, 9-4 (SC).

- differ in the Total number of applicants, who have met the Cut off point (COP), for that stream.
- differ in the Total number of vacancies, left.
For this year 2024, COP for NYJC (Science) is nett 5.

Suppose there are 5 candidates :-
1) 7 - 3 (say, a PR) = nett 4

3) 7 - 2 (PR) = nett 5
4) 7 - 2 (SC) = nett 5
5) 9 - 4 (SC) = nett 5

Answer
1) goes by \"Merit\".
So, the first seat will go to the one ... with nett 4 first. Happen that this person is a PR. With nett 4, he has a better score than those with nett 5. So, this PR enter first.
In other words,
as long as you are one point better than the COP for that stream, you can enter. In this case, nett 4 Is one point better than nett 5. So, nett 4 will enter, first !
2) the rest, applicants ( #2 to #6 ) : all have the same, identical nett score (nett 5).
So, what happen ?
Singapore Citizenship (SC) comes first.
Only applicants ( #4 and #5) are SCs.
Thus,
2nd last seat goes to applicant #4, because he got a better Raw score of (7 - 2), than
applicant #5 (Raw 9 - 4). Both of them are SCs & both are nett 5.

Those two PR applicants (#2 and #3), didn't get in. So, what can they do ? Appeal !
