      So do take note,

for next year’s batch intake of 2025 JC(1) applicants, born in the year 2008, applying for NYJC.
Take a leaf, learn from this year (born in 2007) students.
      So, DON’T go and put

      first choice (NYJC Science) and
      second choice (NYJC Arts), anymore.
      No more loop hole !

      One more thing.
If your L1R5 nett is 5 or 6,

It is actually safer to apply for

      Eunoia JC (Science), instead of
      Nanyang JC (Science).
      Why ?

Because some nett 5 students, also cannot get in for Science. If your nett score is exactly equal to the Cut off point for that stream, some students failed to get in during balloting, for those last few number of seats left.
      Because

majority of the seats have already been snapped up by the nett 3 and nett 4 students

Hi @phtthp, someone reported the following:
\"Net 5 scorers still get admitted to Nyjc.
        Admission is by Merit.
        \"

Can you please confirm your findings? Thank you.

Hi, actually there are a number of Nett 5 in my child’s PCME CT so I think it is fine for a nett 5 to place NY Science as first choice. However, if the child only want to get into science stream, do not put NY Arts as 2nd choice but EJC/ VJC/ NJC (Science) as backup.

I can’t be sure if there are 2 vacancies left, who will enter first? Both the S’porean will be accepted first?

          6-1 (PR)
          7-2 (S’porean)
          9-4 (S’porean)

Merit should come first, base on gross score? The PR and gross 7 sporean would fill up the remaining 2 vacancies?

In the hypothetical, the two Singaporeans will get posted in.

              From MOE’s website:

Who gets priority when two applicants have the same net aggregate score?
If you have the same net aggregate score as another applicant and vying for the last place in a course, posting will be determined by citizenship status, in this order:

              Singapore Citizens (SC)
              Permanent Residents (PR)
              International students
If both of you have same citizenship, e.g., SC, the one with a better gross aggregate score will be posted to the course.

If there is still a tie, a computerised ballot will decide the posting outcome.

In your example above , these 3 candidates all have the same, identical nett 5.

Hence, Sg citizenship priority takes precedence. The last 2 seats will go to the two SCs. But one will enter first, before the other. The better the Raw score, this person will enter , first. So,

7-2 (SC) will enter first, before the next one, 9-4 (SC).

SC : Singapore Citizenship student (pupil)

                      Hi Chief,

Every JAE batch of students differ.
                      Differ, in terms of ?

                      - differ in the Total number of applicants, who have met the Cut off point (COP), for that stream.

                      - differ in the Total number of vacancies, left.

For this year 2024, COP for NYJC (Science) is nett 5.

                      ==≈=====≈=====≈==============

                      Example
                      =======

say, there are Total five JAE candidates (applicants), fighting for the last 3 seats, left.
Who will get to occupy, these last 3 seats ?

Suppose there are 5 candidates :-

                      1) 7 - 3 (say, a PR) = nett 4

                      2) 6 - 1 (PR) = nett 5

                      3) 7 - 2 (PR) = nett 5

                      4) 7 - 2 (SC) = nett 5

                      5) 9 - 4 (SC) = nett 5

                      =============≈===========

                      Answer

                      1) goes by \"Merit\".
So, the first seat will go to the one ... with nett 4 first. Happen that this person is a PR. With nett 4, he has a better score than those with nett 5. So, this PR enter first.

                      In other words,
as long as you are one point better than the COP for that stream, you can enter. In this case, nett 4 Is one point better than nett 5. So, nett 4 will enter, first !

                      2) the rest, applicants ( #2 to #6 ) : all have the same, identical nett score (nett 5).

                      So, what happen ?

                      Singapore Citizenship (SC) comes first.
Only applicants ( #4 and #5) are SCs.
                      Thus,

2nd last seat goes to applicant #4, because he got a better Raw score of (7 - 2), than

applicant #5 (Raw 9 - 4). Both of them are SCs & both are nett 5.

                      https://www.moe.gov.sg/post-secondary/admissions/jae/explore-pathways-and-understand-posting-process/how-posting-works

                      End up, what happen?

Those two PR applicants (#2 and #3), didn't get in. So, what can they do ? Appeal !

                        Chief,

COP for NYJC (Science) this year is net 5. However, we do not know the raw score of the last net 5 student who managed to get in.

Hence, phtthp mentioned that it was\" safer\" to put EJC (Science) rather than NYJC (Science) if the student scores net 5 and only wants to take Science.

Of course, the net 5 student has the right to put down NYJC (Science) if he or she wants, but it's risky. That doesn't mean that no net 5 students got into NYJC (Science).

                        That's how I interpreted phtthp's post.
