You can check out the posts https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=102404&start=10#p2064722.

If you can share more info - such as the usual marks your child is scoring, his/her weaknesses (e.g. time management or language expression), we will be able to give you more specific advice.

I remember my kids didn’t enjoy reading Chinese story books, so we used a crude way. To memorize a few 开头 and a few 结尾。 I prepared a list of 好词好句 and made them memorize and make sure they knew how to pluck in. The middle part of the 作文 I let them 自由发挥 because I don’t know what will come out. 😄

Great idea! Kind of like the way I watch k-dramas 😂 I would watch the first and last episode. If I can swallow the ending, then I'll slowly watch the main body. Efficient and no drama... oops. 😆

You can memorize a 万能开头 and a 万能结尾. This is not a correct study method, but it can indeed quickly improve zuowen scores.

Almost all compositions can start with describing the weather. Starting with 晴天 for good events and 阴雨天 for bad events. The ending can mention 雨过天晴, echoing the beginning.

My boy has adhd. He worked hard for P5 and was excited for PSLE. But somehow this year, he just seem to have thrown everything away. Doesn’t want to study, pick up crappy attitude and habits from school. Pick up vulgar language and the habit of lying.
Suggest consult your son school’s Special Educational Needs (SEN) Officer. SEN officers are trained to provide support to students with SEN, like ADHD/Dyslexia. I do not have in depth knowledge in such matter but I think a SEN officer maybe able to shed some lights, if the attitude change in your son is due to ADHD

It could be that the pressure is getting to him - he may not be pressured at home, but teachers and classmates can pass on stress. It could be that instead of being asked to study to learn, improve himself, etc, he's now being told that if he doesn't study and get top grades, all sorts of terrible things could result. It may have nothing to do with ADHD at all, just that the \"carrot\" being held out doesn't mean anything to him now. And poor attitude could lead to bad habits, lying etc.

Can you find good time to talk to him (when he's more relaxed) and ask whether there are reasons why his attitude has changed? You could assure him that the reasons for studying haven't changed, and you just want to see him put in good effort.
