It varies year to year and they look at the total pool of DSA talents required (ie. the outgoing S4s).

Leadership is one of the most competitive domains with no shortage of applicants.

Just a word of advice to all considering DSA. It is very important that your child feels comfortable in when it comes to the domain(s) which they are applying for, especially for Sports and PA because the commitment is no joke.
I see... so which means its up to the school's discretion how many leadership dsa they will need for that incoming sec 1 batch?
Sports typically has 8 vacancies, 4 IP and 4 G3, can i say for Leadership there;s no specific guideline?

Just to share. my dd scored > AL10 for her p5 and p6 mid year.

During our DSA application last year we selected \"no pref\" as we were fine with OLP and ultimately she was offered CO for IP track.

My view is while the results do matter, they look at things in totality and how much the school wants you.

For IP offering (especially dual track schools), the most important component is the interview process. If your child can impress upon the school during the interview with your thinking process, there's a high chance.
        :congrats:
Convenient to share what was your DD's end of P5 results and if she's being offered St Nicks IP or another school?

From what I've gathered, there's no fixed slots for ALL domains pre DSA season. I know particularly in 1 year, there was a niche domain offered by 1 dual track school where there were 20 applicants / trialists and surprisingly not a single applicant was offered CO. But for leadership, I'm pretty sure the school will take in a few as the leadership DSA students are versatile and not limited to a specific CCA unlike the sports/pa domains.

Secondary schools VP / Ps of course will look at the entire, whole year results ! Often, the year end SA2 results bear heavier weight

                Why ?

                People look at \"Consistency\" !
Thank you! So when people mention the P5 results, they are referring to overall results (WA+SA AL) instead of just SA2 AL right?

                Thanks!

                  Yes,

they look at your entire whole year round results, for consistency. Including all your individual Weighted Term tests / assessment results +

                  SA2 (Year end) results +

whatever supporting documents (achievements) which u have submitted, that are directly relevant to that particular domain, that (which) u are applying for.

Hi, would like to ask if there's chances to apply DSA in leadership if my child is only a prefect ExCo... Or DSA chinese dance if my child only have ballet background but sport CCA in school. Her results in the range of AL5 - AL7.
Your child's results are good. `should be able to get into any school she desires if she maintains it. Why not just focus on PSLE instead of bringing in distractions and stress from DSA , esp when she`s not particularly strong either domain. just my two cents.

                      Hi Parents,

I have two questions. One related to the application process and another regarding the COP.

                      1) I understand that the application process is somewhat automated where it will include all the awards, subject grades, etc that the school knows of.

                      - Are we able to see during the application process what is provided by the school so that we know what we can include in the next section which is awards outside of the school?

                      - If we apply DSA for science, does it make sense to include in the section for awards outside of school, competition awards not related to science, I.e. math olympiads and even sports?

                      2) COP. Say if we got the DSA offer for a particular school but for PSLE we didn’t meet the minimum COP, does the school still accept the kid? If not, typically what is the threshold that the school is willing to accept?

                      Thanks parents.
There is no absolute right or wrong answer. In my personal view, you can include them.
Awards outside of school: Definitely you can. DSA is for talented kids beyond school grade. It doesn't have to be even award. It can be personal projects to show genuine interest in Science.
Competition award not related to science: Math is related to science. You need to be strong in Math to do well in Science post primary education.
You may list down 10 items for Science and think if they are stronger appeal than Math Olympiad. If you think they are strong portfolio, then you can use all 10 Science related items. However, in reality, I think not many kids have 10 items from Science alone. There are anyway only a few well-recognized Science Olympiads in Singapore.
My kid applied DSA under Math and Science for different schools last year. He listed only one item related solely to Science, only a few more items related to both Math and Science and majority are related solely to Math. He was still shortlisted by IP school under Science. Hope it helps.

All the best to your child!

I have come to realize that ksp is really very skewed when it comes to dsa or psle success stories. Spoken to many (outside ksp) who tried their best for both but it seems ~90% were disappointed. Only a few rare unicorns were successful.

I suspect there was a stark drop in success rate for dsa after the respective removal of HAST admission tests + quota of max 20% (official for non-indpt schools, and unofficial for indpt schools).

Sports dsa yes, also heard that for team sports, quota only <5 and also skewed against affiliates (or against rival schools, where applicable).

I heard that there was a talk for feeder school parents at ACSI ytd afternoon. Not sure what official info the school has told the parents abt DSA, but pls be aware that the actual chances are extremely low.
