Does anyone have an idea as to how many boys get admitted yearly into ACS (I)'s IP from the O level track in year 3? Mostly from ACS(I) or are there some from other schools too?

Don't think it can be more than 60 or so, based on the number of IP classes in Y3 compared to Y2. But ACS(I) has of course got a lot of leeway in internal transfers. I don't have detailed data.

Looking at the most recent COP for ACSI, both IP and O levels are standing at AL7 for non affiliated students.

I hope to hear what are your views if my child who’s not from ACS, gets AL7, which would he stand a higher chance of entry? Given that IP has a smaller intake (I think) but with no affiliation at all vs O levels with a bigger intake but only 20% space for children not from affiliated schools.

Will be great also if anyone knows the intake for both tracks each year or in 2023.

If your child's PSLE AL score is exactly equal to (identical) Any Secondary school's official Cut off point, not just ACSI only -

then,

there will be a computer balloting taking place, when the demand exceeds the available supply of vacancies (seats). Everything will depend on your child's luck, during computer balloting process. Of course, SG citizenship also play a part. Priority is given to SCs first. SC comes before any PRs & PRs come before any foreigners. So, the answer is -

during computer balloting for the last seat available, your P6 son only have ... 50 percent chance. Is either in or out, during the computerised balloting. So, what to do ?

Just make sure that inside your S1 listing submitted to MOE, ensure that there are some other Sec schools whose official Cut off point is more than AL 7. Example, COP with AL (8 or 9 or 10, etc), so that other sec schools can \"catch\" your son, well.

SC : Singapore Citizenship

In the event those with AL 7 got balloted out of ACSI, can proceed to appeal. But appeal, is a separate matter.

Thanks for the explanation. I understand the process but just wondering in advance if I'm stuck in such a predicament, which would have a higher chance of admittance within ACSI.

Have you called the school to find out the intake for both tracks in 2023? I doubt 80% of ACSI G3 (O levels) seats go to affiliated ACSJ and ACSP kids.

If my child scores AL7, I think he will stand higher chance to get into ACSI if he chooses O levels stream, assuming he has no preference for the streams and just wants to get into the school.

But if he only wants IP stream, then he should ONLY place ACSI IP as first choice.

ACS (INDEPENDENT)’S 2024 IB EXAM RESULTS 18 DEC 2024

100.0% passes; school achieved an average score of 41.2 points.

Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)’s Class of 2024 comprising 452 students achieved 100% passes at the November 2024 International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme Examination. Of these 452 students, 356 (79%) obtained 40 points and above, while 267 students (59%) achieved a score of between 42 to 45 points. This set of results saw the school achieving an average score of 41.2 points. The students received their results online at 8 am on 18 December 2024 via the IB candidate website.

The Principal of Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), Mr Arene Koh, extends his heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2024 for completing the rigorous IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) and achieving outstanding results in the November 2024 IBDP examinations.

Commending their performance and achievements, he noted that this outcome has shown what is possible when dedication, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence come together. He urged the Class of 2024 to remain steadfast in their journey and continue to build a legacy of positive change as they step into the next chapter.

The school also expresses its gratitude to the ACS Board of Governors, the ACS(I) Board of Management, the ACS Old Boys’ Association, the Methodist Church in Singapore, MOE, parents and well-wishers for their support and encouragement.

The IBDP Class of 2024, together with teachers, parents and the Senior Administration, will come together on 3 January 2025 to celebrate and give thanks for this set of results.

Dear parents of Students sitting for IB this year,

Would be good to be connected here anonymously and share insights on how we can support our students.

Right now, I am particularly troubled by teacher who teaches language arts in the school and really does not belong there.
Even the boys know that she is wasting their time. and there is no real analysis being done.

I worry as even the IOs will be marked by this teacher. What options do we have at this stage but to ride the year out…

Any thoughts and PMs are welcome.

@Mama_ambitious If a school teacher is negligent or incompetent, perhaps the way to voice this concern, is to the school?

My impression is that the schools offering IB In Singapore are generally producing very strong scores, hence by and large the teaching should be quite okay? For the occasional less than stellar teacher, there is tuition (haha Singapore style).

IO marking is moderated by IBO I think.
