JL-NG:
When we registered , we got in admission after failed attempt at Raffels(Balloting in 2003)...it is not possible today... though there may not be balloting , very few places are left for last phase...Indication that school is getting better every year. Thanks, this is very good info.
My girl is only 2nd year (P2) with the school and though she is not with the 2 best class, her teachers have been very encouraging and very patient. I have seen a marked improvement in her academics too.
It is very comforting to know that MCS has a lot of good teachers and making every effort to help the girls to achieve good academic results.
P2 is too early to say where your DD in P4- Streaming...It is only based on one year of grades. Important thing is to Peak at right time... P4-5-6. Just let her enjoy her studies & CCA( Make attempt to get her into good CCA , as it is very informal way gettign in .. Net ball is their star CCA)
Parent encouragement is key( Fake it even if you are Garang internally !) thought i do empathize with parent becoming kenchong! -
Haha, fake it…that’s funny.
Actually, I have a younger DD who is due to register this year for P1 in 2011. I have completed PVG with Raffles thus able to register under P2B
Now I am having 2nd thought, that is to give up Raffles and register my younger DD together with the sister in MCS reason being I do see the holistic environment that MCS is providing. Plus I understand from the parents who child in Raffles does not provide any form of enrichments or support to the girls.
For me, support from the school is very important and like what you said kids excel at various stages. With good support from teachers and school, the girls will then be able to excel. -

Raffels girls primary has no affliation with RGS, so there is no benefit for secondary admission & it also is very far. There is talk of moving Raffels girls schools near by Raffels Institution , in such case both MCS & RGP are same in terms of distance.Haha, fake it..that's funny.

RGP will still be good bet & have an year to decide -
Yes, understand there is no affliation to Raffles Sec which is why I am not so keen. RGPS might be moving closer to Potong Pasir area only in 2yrs time to cater for single session by 2016.
Actually, I have only less than 2 weeks to decide. I have friend's daughter who studied in RGPS told me there is completely no enrichment from the school. The teachers are also not fantastic. It has to depend a lot on the girls themselves to work hard ~ which means very little school support. The girls that excel are mainly from the GEP prog (quite a number are transferred from other schools)
I guess its whether we as parents want to push the girl ourselves or prefer to have the school to push the girls  -

Two schools are not comparable... very different, so it also depends on what you want for kid... whether competitive environment when GEP lot arrives in P4 /motivates to compete & perform better or more stable where they have their friends & groups settled for six straight years. Also GEP class may be entirely different in RGP & it may not help the whole cohert at all... Really have no idea @ RGP... -
You are right, they are really different and hard to compare. Also depend very much on the character of the child.
Anyway, many thanks for your advice. -
So MCS of RGPS?
-

Can share with me the reason for enrolling your gal?
I was intending to enrol my gal in CHIJ OLN in Hougang. But knowing that Rym Gym is MCS's niche, I am contemplating MCS though the distance is a bit far (staying in Hougang). -
