Hi, My Son is in HPPS 4K.
My Child kept having the problem to re-do his project/portfolio/essay.
He has short attention span and does not pay attention. As such, he often misses out the instructions given by teachers on what is expected of the homework. Am i the only parent out there facing this problem? I feel so frustrated over this problem. Just the recent June holiday homework, my child has to re-do his portfolio cos he chose the wrong topic. He also had to typed out another homework of his cos he din't realised it need to be submitted in a typed out format. On top of that, he forgot to do his chinese book reading homework and he did another of his homework in the wrong way too. Its like he did 80% of his school holiday homework wrongly...Aggrrrrrrr....I am getting so frustrated. Imagine having to try to finish few weeks homework in 2 days with only 2 hrs to spare each day...I going crazy...Am i over reacting when i get angry. Can someone share what i can do to help my child overcome this problem? Do anyone encounter such problem with their Child?

You are not over-reacting. The best way is to talk to your child's teachers and explain the problem, and get them to help communicate with you through SMS or email on the h/w that they gave out so that you can guide your child before he does the h/w.Hi, My Son is in HPPS 4K.

Thanks so much for your suggestion. i guess i will go ahead and email the teachers and hopefully the communication will help me understand how to help my child better. Thanks

Hihi
I will be registering this Friday, under Phase 2A1.
Anyone with past experience who can advise how long the registration process takes? 10min? 15min?
(assuming i have ALL the required documents)
I’m wondering if i can pop in at 8am, quickly register and return to work by 9am.
Thank you! -
Hi cody…
Last year for 2A2 we went in the afternoon…first the admin staff will check through your documents, photocopying if required…then you will head to another classroom. Unfortunately there wasnt much of a Q system as everyone else were sitting around the large round table. The staff would once again verify the documents and you can go home after the submission.
It took us maybe around 40mins? that time there was about 6-8 parents in the room. I think 2A1 should be a smaller crowd… -
Thanks gwen!

hello! i just registered my son in HPPS under phase 2A1 also.
Any parents with past experience here can tell me what they do during orientation?
Sigh, i planned an overseas holiday with the extended family (26pax!!) but now that holiday clashes with the orientation!
Wondering if i can give it a skip ... or should i back out of the holiday.

Different schools have different prientation program. You can probably get some ideas from this thread: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1414

Hi cody
Last year during orientation, the newbies will join their respective class and will head to their classroom after some performances. They get to meet their teacher and a tour of the school.
The parents stayed in the hall and attended the talks by the Principal and Vice Principal, couple of heads of dept...they cover what is Stella, showed some slides and such. At the end of it, there are some booths for parents to register their kids for ECCAs (enrichment co-curricular activities) organized by the parents' association, but you dont have to rush to do that. In any case for P1, ECCA and CCA are not compulsory. More infor will be provided subsequently. Likely you need time to review with your kid and also if it fits into his/her schedule etc.
If you decide to go ahead with the tour (which I certainly think so!), perhaps you can pick up the orientation booklet from the school, I think there's sufficient information in it to get your child ready eg what to pack for day 1 for the first few days. Dont worry about your child loosing out...they will settle down alright. -
Thanks Gwen and Big Devil....
For any new applicants who are interested, 2010 Orientation for 2011 Primary 1 cohort is on 22 Nov (Mon).
I called the school, this is the ONLY day for orientation.
