        Just for sharing…

AN INDONESIAN maid who stole from her employer’s mother-in-law twice and blamed the ex-maid was jailed for 10 months on Monday.

On May 27, Desi Kurnia Dewi, 23, was found unconscious in the flat with two wooden chairs on top of her by her employer’s mother-in-law, Madam Chan Har Mooi, 68.

The maid, who had earlier stolen foreign currencies and jewellery from the victim, claimed that she was assaulted by ex-maid Siti Mariah before she lost consciousness.

Siti Mariah was arrested and remanded for two weeks.

Further investigation showed that she staged the robbery after forcing open the drawer to steal valuables. She caused some bruises to her arms and pretended to have passed out.

On June 11, she handed $500 to Madam Chan and asked her to buy an air ticket for her to go home, claiming her family members had sent her the money.

Suspicious, Madam Chan checked and found $2,888 missing from a red box in a drawer. In her statement to the police, she again alleged that Siti Mariah had instigated her to steal.

Desi could have been jailed for up to seven years and fined for theft as a servant. For giving false information to the police, she could have been jailed for up to one year and/or fined up to $5,000.

This maid was my colleague ex-maid, she send her back last year. The maid hands are not "clean, my colleague’s sons’ peggy bank coins always missing and her FIL’s money was stolen too…

The maid is smart, she went back change her name and got herself new passport and return to Singapore… :x

this afternoon i was at shell petrol station. while i was queuing to make payment for petrol, in front of me there was this fil maid with a after school 7-8 yrs old boy. she turned back and looked at me once and i could feel the way she looked at me was a bit strange. then when it was her turn to make payment, she bought a $15 hand phone top up card. that was usual but the unusual thing was she paid this $15 all in small coins: all 10 or 20 cents coins, there was no single 50 cents or 1 dollar coin. it was large amount of coins and it took long time for the cashier to count. i think most likely she stole coins from the boy’s pocket money.

hope one day she got caught and sent back home or police.

I may actually need to hire a maid to help with chores as I am preparing to spend more time with kids when dd goes to P1 next year. Any good recommendation for decent maids or agency?

I would appreciate if someone can introduce their good maids whose contracts expired and employer do not want to renew because of kids growing up, etc…

            Thanks!

Not sure if I shared this before.

a friend’s mum wanted to send maid away after 1+ year of service and on day of departure, they went through her stuff. Found phone card with hundreds of dollars inside, wallet stuffed with foreign currencies. Turns out she’s been cleaning the house in more ways than one. But they didn’t report to police and just sent her back.

And another where a friend took in a maid where the old person she was taking care of died, after some months of poor attitude etc, they decided to send her back. and it was only checking through her stuff that they realised the maid was moonlighting as a pros. haiizzz

it looks like when a maid is doing wrong things, it always comes with bad attitude. you may not be able to figure out what are the wrong things, but if one day a maid used to have good working attitude suddenly displays bad attitude, be very cautious and alert. it normally means her mindset is changing.

i always believe for a person with reasonable intelligence, if he/she is not doing right things, he/she will be doing wrong things. there is nothing in the middle.

Sounds like my friend's maid. Her last employer also passed away. Her working attitude was extremely poor and her behaviour led my friend to suspect she was working as a pros. After she sent her away, the other maids who knew the maid told my friend that the maid was indeed moonlighting. Problem is, the agency knowing full well the maid's history proceeded to place her with another employer.

I got a question - do any of you leave your maid at home when you go out on weekends for outing, or you bring her along?

What about when you go for family vacation, do you leave the maid alone at home for a week or more? if yes, how can you ensure the maid won’t do any hanky panky or bring a man home?

I’ve heard so many horror stories that I don’t leave my ex maid alone at home. So when we went out for shopping, to the zoo or makan etc, we always brought her along. And she get to have a break from housework too. But several friends I know dont bring their maid out and they say I ‘spoil’ my previous maid. so just wanna hear some of your views and experiences.

                        Hi Angelight,

For me, we always bring the maid along for outings. So that we can have our fun and for her, it is hard work chasing after the kid around the shopping centres and ensuring DS eat properly at the restaurant. Ke..ke..ke!
                        :celebrate:
