@Infoseeker Hi there, this is about Cedar Cross Country coach Jacky Ong being suspended from 3 July till further notice. Also heard of Cedar having 3 different sprint coaches in 4 years, so I am wondering if there is anything amiss about the process of Cedar’s recruitment of coaches (???). No, I have no info about the situation of other sports (such as basketball) in the school. Maybe basketball is ok?
Nway, all these recent happenings in Cedar is adding to the stress of the tan-a-tan (waiting) process of DSA. So Unbearable !

@TanATan From what I heard, this cross country coach messed up in his personal time. Nothing to do with the school / cedar - i think he coaches another school as well.
My friend said the school’s been proactive - they engaged the parents of the cedar cross country girls to share about the arrangements and how the girls won’t be shortchanged in any way. He’s quite happy with how quickly the school took action and how fast they communicated to parents. Seems the girls will continue to be well-supported.

@DSAlink I agree. I actually found the English DSA portfolio one of the hardest to prepare because it’s so subjective.
What helped us was not trying to make every piece “perfect”. We included a mix of school work and writing she genuinely enjoyed doing.
The interview is really important too. At the end of the day, they can usually tell whether a piece truly belongs to the student. If your child can talk confidently about why she wrote it the way she did, what she struggled with and what she learnt, I think that carries a lot of weight.

@Faerie77 >>> Hi there, great to hear about your faith in the school ! There might be another tornado change of track coaches in Cedar , for your heads-up! Too many upheavals & risks for my daughter so yes, we will not b putting our eggs in this basket anymore. Anyway, we just received St Nicholas’ invite for DSA interview for track & field scheduled next week. Good luck to everyone ! We are all more than halfway done in this (“Tan-A-Tan”) waiting process !!

- Select preferred schools: Mon, 19 Oct to Fri, 23 Oct 2026
- Receive school allocation results: Tue, 24 Nov or Wed, 25 Nov 2026 (Tentative)
