Hi markfch,

There was an excursion to DBS auditorium when my son was in P2. It was very interesting to see a live production for children...best part of it was the airconditioned place after all the outings under the hot scorching sun.

Your wife is really a very supportive mummy...to volunteer to look after kids on overseas programs. Pei Hwa is very fortunate to have parents like you to offer voluntary help even for upper primary.

DW & I are lucky to be working in pro-family companies plus dw has 28 days of annual leave plus dw likes travelling very much plus mixing with kids makes us feel younger. See, so many benefits so it's no big deal really

My son also asked me to volunteer. I agreed and he is very happy.

All the best! I could still remember the year when we were registering my dd for PH. I was expecting my No. 3 then. I think my blood pressure went up during balloting. Haha....but I think it's all worth it.

I've a niece who I think is the same league as your dd. She could read newspaper & spell out the months in order at 2 plus. Too many amazing things she could do, I can faint. I finally understood the meaning of gifted when I observed her.

I think for the truly gifted kids, it's the school that is fortunate to have them. That's my thought. Of course I'm also very happy with ds. He's also gifted in other ways, like er, spending my money & emotional blackmailing me

My girl is just hardworking and a little more blessed cos I had gone thru the local education system enough to... well...know what she should at least know at her age...I probably 'overfed' her a little more...hehe...talk about being kiasu...

I've not discussed with my dd re gifted programme till she questioned me about it last week. Apparently, her teacher had raised the topic in class. Well...I told her straight, we might not even let her take the gifted test next year as my dh and I believe in not labelling our kids. This is just our opinion re gifted programme. We know how our kids are like and in God's eyes, every child is gifted. Furthermore, we have gone through so much to get her into PH, we'll not want to be put in the position that we have to decide to transfer her out. I had taught kids who were really smart but not in the gifted programme, they had progressed steadily over the years into responsible, mature and emotionally stable young people, went to top JCs and in the prestigious courses in the Uni. That's y i know consistency is still important.

Frankly, IJJ is the more discerning mum here when it comes to her girls' education. I wish I could be just as decisive and firm. Looking at my no. 2 who is the more artsy one, sometimes I do wonder whether PH will be the right fit for her? However, I know, out of convenience, we'll probably register her in the same school when the time comes. Hmm...like not very fair to her...haha...

Hi there,

I think what I’m about to put here might surprise some of you.

My hubby & I have ‘by-passed’ Phase 1 for daughter. It has been a roller coaster of sorts for the past few months b4 we decided to make this decision. This Thursday, we will register her at CHIJ TP under Phase 2A2.

My son is an average kid. Coaching him in his studies has been tough on us for the past few years, esp at P3. We coach him as much as we can, although he has tuition for Chinese and English enrichment. For daughter, we plan to use the same approach to coach her, hopefully she will be able to do well and build up her foundation.
