Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

Dear parents, i need some advice from ur experts.
Recently i got selected as PV at BPPS and will start to volunteer next week.
However, iām thinking of letting my DD1 goes balloting at RGPS for Phase 2C > 2KM.
If cant get in, i had a back up plan that is West View PS for Phase 2C Supp.
Hope to hear from ur soon. -

My friend is an old boy of NYPS. Getting his son into NYPS is as easy as ABC. Of course, he got in....
It's very sad to read how this little boy has to travel long distances to be in NYPS. My friend's son has to board the bus at 6am even though NYPS isn't that far. Tampines is very much far worse. My friend has shifted to Duchess Manor, so her son can walk to school everyday.
I hope your friend is able to transfer this 8 year old boy to a school nearer home, so that he can have more sleep instead of waking up at 5am. -

Sounds like a good plan. What are your concerns? Whether or not to do PV at Bukit Panjang? It will also help if you can mention which year of registration you are going for.Dear parents, i need some advice from ur experts.

You are selected to be PV at Bukit Panjang PS for your daughter for next year's registration. Based on past year history, children under Phase 2B are taken in. If I'm not wrong, there is an affiliated secondary school.Dear parents, i need some advice from ur experts.

Well said, Chief! Can't agree more with what you saidJust some general advice. When considering SAP schools, do consider your family background too. If your family mainly communicate using English and hardly read Chinese newspapers or TV, it is ill-advised to send your child to a SAP school WITHOUT external help from Chinese enrichment services or home tuition. Your child will likely struggle, especially from Pri 3 onwards.
The best school for your child is the one where he/she is able to grow confidently and independently at his/her own pace. Don't choose an elite school just because you have heard it is a great school - no doubt those are great schools, but they are only good for your child if he/she can keep up with the pace. -

It is indeed not too far, but the problem with school bus is that you might be the earliest ones to be picked up from your home, and the last ones to be dropped off...
Thanks for your valuable comments and suggestions!
Sounds like HPPS is still a viable choice. Besides, it is still one of the good and popular schools around ..giving up the seat seems like such a pity..if you know what I mean.
Moving is not one of the consideration now since the property market is just crazily high.
If the school bus needs to pick him up at 6am or earlier than I will most likely consider sending him to school. Poor kiddo, cannot imagine having him wake up at 530 or earlier and he is not a morning person. I have heard from many that morning traffic along Lornie road is pretty congested...guess I should also try out the route myself. -
