Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

My friend is an old boy of NYPS. Getting his son into NYPS is as easy as ABC. Of course, he got in....
This is totally sad for the kid......I feel so much for him..... -

Well said, Chief! Can't agree more with what you saidJust some general advice. When considering SAP schools, do consider your family background too. If your family mainly communicate using English and hardly read Chinese newspapers or TV, it is ill-advised to send your child to a SAP school WITHOUT external help from Chinese enrichment services or home tuition. Your child will likely struggle, especially from Pri 3 onwards.
The best school for your child is the one where he/she is able to grow confidently and independently at his/her own pace. Don't choose an elite school just because you have heard it is a great school - no doubt those are great schools, but they are only good for your child if he/she can keep up with the pace. -

It is indeed not too far, but the problem with school bus is that you might be the earliest ones to be picked up from your home, and the last ones to be dropped off...
Thanks for your valuable comments and suggestions!
Sounds like HPPS is still a viable choice. Besides, it is still one of the good and popular schools around ..giving up the seat seems like such a pity..if you know what I mean.
Moving is not one of the consideration now since the property market is just crazily high.
If the school bus needs to pick him up at 6am or earlier than I will most likely consider sending him to school. Poor kiddo, cannot imagine having him wake up at 530 or earlier and he is not a morning person. I have heard from many that morning traffic along Lornie road is pretty congested...guess I should also try out the route myself. -

Sounds like a good plan. What are your concerns? Whether or not to do PV at Bukit Panjang? It will also help if you can mention which year of registration you are going for.
I'm wondering whether to do PV coz scare my boss will ask y always tk leave. My DD1 is born in 2005.. -

may be later the boss thank you for the valuable info -
mummy of 3:
If your boss asks, then I believe it's ok to tell him that you're doing PV. After all, this is a legitimate reason. For all you know, your boss will even be impressed with you for doing this for your child.janet_lee88:

IMO, because you stay >2km from RGPS, it'll put you at great risk for balloting. If your dd is academically inclined, I believe BPPS environment will allow her to excel. Later on if your dd tops the cohort or gets into gep, you still can apply for transfer to RGPS.Dear parents, i need some advice from ur experts.
Recently i got selected as PV at BPPS and will start to volunteer next week.
However, i'm thinking of letting my DD1 goes balloting at RGPS for Phase 2C > 2KM.
If cant get in, i had a back up plan that is West View PS for Phase 2C Supp.
Hope to hear from ur soon.
Btw, once in a while we'll see some rude posts here and there  . What we post reflects who we are. So just ignore them. -

rude and baseless accusations without evidence, making insinuations that could be charged for defamationIMO, because you stay >2km from RGPS, it'll put you at great risk for balloting. if she/he has evidence, she/he should go and report and prove it. it is easy to spout nonsense behind the keyboard
sometime you need to counter the untruths being spread around, else, if it is mentioned enough times, people will take it as truth; and the credibility of the ksp.com is also at stake -
My boss had agree to let me do my PV at BPPS... Had already clock in 14 hrs... Hope can clock in 40 hrs in time to register next yr...
Thx for all the advice from all the Parents... :thankyou:
