      Mummy58:
I am just curious for parents with children in Pei Hwa, does your child have homework? My girl is in P2 this year and I think she has been very relax in term 1 and 2. No homework from teacher and the only thing she needs to do is the weekly Ting xie, mo sie and spelling.

My dd is in P2. She does have the usual EMC homework till now, though not daily. She has weekly journals too, even for the June Hols (4 entries). Her teacher is super fast in reading their journals! My dd also managed to complete the Reading Activity Card during the June hols and a self-authored chinese storybook as Chinese HW.

In conjunction with the Math topic on Money, the teachers had been bringing the kids to the supermarket to do marketing! My dd’s class will be going to Cold Storage today. The groups had been planning the items to buy and budgeting for this marketing trip. All items will be consumed tomorrow during lesson. How exciting! Brought back my memories when I brought my older P4s for marketing trip at Giant IMM. Are we still under the Innovation and Enterprise - Teach Less, Learn More strategy?

My dd had never need to worry about marketing…it’s quite interesting to see her getting all serious and feeling important for this little project. It was like her MOST top priority event of the week! Haha.

Thanks for your reply. Dd never have homework during the first half year of P2 and not even during June hol. The class was only told to memerise a Chinese poem throughout the whole hol.

My dd’s class is also going to Cold Storage today which she is very excited about.

my dh is going PH to register ds1 tomorrow… so excited and worried… I still have colleagues coming up to me to ask if I wanna re-consider sending my son to such a tough environment… sigh… so difficult to make a choice!!

Our current plan to let DS enter PH first… and see how he performs… Dh n I have an agreement to not worry even if ds is the last in the last class… as long as he is learning and still happy… but I’m not sure if I can manage that… hahaha… My husband is the old school boy, and he actually still recalls how sad he was to score 80+ for his subjects and still end up at the bottom of the class… he is worried that DS can’t cope…

If any of you have any tips on managing stress in kids, do share!! I’m actually looking for a student care, preferably one that is well-balanced with play time instead of just drilling of assessment work. But again, I was advised that this will make it harder for my son to fit into PH’s ‘culture’…

sigh… such a tough decision, I actually can’t wait till p1 starts so I can see for myself how best to help my son learn…

Hubby & I didn't build his foundation and now we are regretting it. It's very important to build up for P1/2. Please don't ignore that.
Son is now in P4, drilling him hard because of subject-banding at the end of the year.

There are many helpful mummies here who can guide you along the way for P1. Don't worry about that.

My twin nieces, now in secondary schools, told me that when they were in PH, both of them were in different class since P2 through P6, the degree of difficulty as well as the amount of homeworks varied. At times, it could vary alot, like one had to do till late night on consecutive days, whereas the one could watch TV right after bath and lunch daily.

The Cold storage trip sound so fun. Has this program been there all along? My child did not have it last year, she missed it?

61 children are registered under Phase 2A2 - 1st day.

Remaining 93 places for 2nd day 2A2, 2B and 2C. [Correct me if I’m wrong]
