He always said he dun require friend, tho he does have 1 or 2 closer friend in pri school.Hi millan,
Was your son already anti-social during primary sch days? perhaps he couldn't adapt to the new sch environment, thus becomes evasive and unsociable ? Perhaps you can find out from his teacher how he's coping at sch.
Since he likes books so much, you can create opportunity for him to socialise more by visiting the library together as a family outing, then suggest going for a meal or movie after that, etc ... can even ask friends, his old classmates or cousins out together, visit bookstores, book fairs, etc.
When he is Sec 1, he is really lone ranger.. you might think he may be quiet and reserved. Truth is he is very outspoken, as a result, he makes weird remarks abt pple. Teacher said he even poke fun at pple is his written work..
He can socialise , a matter whether he want anot. He always think he can survive by himself but very weary that pple will attack him and so always is in defencsive mode....
Really worried that he becomes that kind of ellite. With IQ no EQ. -

gotta slowly change his \"me-first\" mindset. i dunno for you, but i find that my boy tends to relate better with his father more as he grows older. So sometimes i get my hubby to 'counsel' my son whenever i can't handle his behavioural issues

The two of them now go on weekly 'breakfast dates' at nearby coffee shop - only two of them. They will chat about his sch, homework, or anything that interest my son. Hubby will also share his life experiences, his childhood, his job, boss, how he dated me, etc...
btw, does ur son read books on humanities ? think it can help.
u can also get some self-help book for him or yourself, or speak to the sch counsellor. -

If possible try to get him to watch dramas which emphasize friendship or teamwork.
