Hi cherrygal - Im catholic also. I think both schools will have balloting for >2km - which is for my case. Can anyone provide the statistics for 2009 and earlier, how many usually apply at Phase 2B for Maris Stella?
Currently, 2010 places about 90 each for Phase 2B and 2C. What is the chance for >2km pple?
As Catholic High has almost filled up (9 places each for 2B & 2C), I anticipate more of bishan catholic parents to try either Maris Stella or SJI Jr now...
So im just gonna inni mini mole - n put my name on one and cross my fingers!
I think no point thinking too much liao - it just boils down to luck now! -
CHS, prior Bishan, in its Queen Street Days is affiliated to Church of Saints Peter and Paul.

Actually CHS is affiliated to all catholic churhces - as long as you have a catholic baptism certificate. -
Thanks for the information.
So its different from those school who are affiliated to say Protestant (Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodists, etc) Churches?
As in only Anglican Churches go to Anglican School, and so on and so on.
Hmm… maybe it has been discussed before somewhere. -
Hi Cherrygal,
Seem like it is almost impossible to try for CHS. 9 places in 2B. I bet there will be many parents willing to take the chance, especially those PV since they can't opt for another Catholic School.
I will b heading to Maris Stella to try my luck. More than 2km. Hope there will be no balloting. For SJIJ, I'm not so keen because of the morning traffic and so on. I tutored a student from that school before and hear many nagative thing about the school. Then newspaper article came out and confirm what my student told me. So, Maris Stella for me. if you are choosing Maris Stella and shd there be balloting in 2B, then most likely we are going to meet then. Hope it won't happen.
Meanwhile, relax and trust God. Have a nice weekend with your family!

Hi Big Foot
Yes, I will also apply Maris first (and I think all the bishan catholic parents would also do this and make balloting at Maris a high possibility). But I will still see if SJI Jr needs to ballot by Friday afternoon. If no need, I would go to SJI Jr and get a guaranteed place.
This is seriously too much stress. -

Just curious, is it all catholic parents can register in any catholic schools in Singapore? I thought it only allow those which are directly affiliated with the school. Btw is Catholic High & Maris Stella sharing the same church or something like that? :?
If I am not wrong, they are brothers school. -

There are many Catholic schools in SGP. Therefore it is phase 2B in any catholic shool.
The Schools themselves are run by different different Catholic Orders
For example, SJIJ, St Stephen's, St Anthony's & De La Salle are run by the La Salle Brothers. They are affliated to SJI and St Pat's who are run by the same order.
St Gabe's, Monfort and I think Assumption are run by the Gabrialite Brothers, another Catholic teaching Order
The biggest grouping are of course the IJ group....

hi all…
I need some advice. We stay within zone 1 of Maris Stella High and we are wondering if it is neccesary to register for parents volunteer? Our son is born in 2006, registration in 2 years time…
Any parents volunteer in Maris Stella High care to share their volunteering experience?
Thks!
