Are All Primary Schools The Same?
U can tell from the P1 registration statistics. If all schools are the same then we should see a well evenly distributed of applicants for all schools. But we are definitely not seeing that happening. -
KSP:
:goodpost: bcos they live around that neighbourhood...... :rotflmao:
why are all the gd schs mostly built in private estates? I really wonder...was driving down Bt Timah from my humble CCK hdb estate to town, all the gd schs are there...NYPS, RGPS. CHIJ OLQP, MGS & HPPS in Holland area etc etc. while CCK residents have to have fight for SVPS or DLS. And if balloted out which is highly likely...left with ???
to them their neighbourhood schools are eg NYPS, RGPS etc etcverykiasu2010:
You mean they don't :!: :!:
actually, depends on which school is in their neighbourhood.
While those in so called surrounded by gd schs, balloted out from 1, go into another gd sch. -

MGS used to be in town, but gov't nego to swap land and give the school room for expansion, (same for those mission schools now in HDB housing estates due to land swap for expansion) - at least the government is doing what is right in the eyes of the electorate - spread those good mission schools around. Can't complain.
RGPS is a government school - took the site of another sec school used to be there etc. And RI - government school, is in Bishan ..... it actually enhances the value of properties in Bishan, no ? -

That is the difference between landed and non-land neighbourhood.
For landed only one household occupied that piece of land. For non-land like HDB or condo, the same piece of land is shared by 30-40 sometimes 50 stories which occupied by hundreds of household. -
RRMummy:
In that case MOE can monitor, compare and phase out the ones that cause havoc..
I am aware of different textbook, but schools can only use those endorsed by MOEtankee:
same syllabus same training but use different text books also cause havoc
not all primary school use the same text books, fyi
Err.. maybe vk2010 can elaborate on how textbook can create havoc? :?
whether the schools used the same textbooks or not, IMO, is not an issue
becos the teachers seldom touch on the textbooks,
the pupils are told to read up themselves (esp eng, maths and science)
i have seen friends' kids fr various schools, most mothers complain that the textbook is \"for decoration only\" all look so NEW......
ever seen the maths activity bk fr 1 primary school, totally new, not touch at all...... :!:
i would say the difference mainly come fr WHO is the teacher-in -charge
whether the teacher would go the extra miles to prepare notes for their pupils, esp for science......(though there are some schools with std notes avail for all pupils) -
My dd‘s Math and Science text book are the permanent residents at her classroom locker. Only English and CL Text book are in the school bag. I think for EL text book is used to do some activity and CL text book is for 习字 purpose (to copy those highlighted).

Yes. You’re right. If I want to find out what is the next chapter of the maths then just go to Popular book shop to refer and is very convenience.Brenda10:

not used in class at all?
My DS also keep some textbooks in school locker, but the books are used in class during lesson. Keeping in locker helps to lighten the school bag. He only brings back the activity book for homework & revision.
