The best is not to talk about $$ with friends or colleagues. Not even with relatives or siblings after marriage. This is speaking from life experience.
Just wondering, do you tell your parents your mthly salary? I do. I think usually those who earn alot will keep it P&C :lol: However, my mum will often tell me (without me asking) how much her friends and my aunties/uncles' kids are earning. They are very proud of their kids' career achievements and happily shared with her. I won't be surprised my mum told them about my pay too! -

1. grocery (wet & dry market), gas, PUB, SCV, household maintenance
2. petrol, car park, car maintenance, car insurance, road tax, ERP
3. life insurance, medical, dental, givings to parents
4. kids' school fees, misc fees, books, uniform, school shoes, stationery, supplemental books, ref books, assessment books, tuition fees, enrichment courses, piano, violin, swimming coaches etc, new clothes
4a. diapers, milk powders, clothes, medical etc
5. festivals and celebrations / parties - Christmas, CNY, birthdays (young and old folks)
6. vacations
how much do you all spend on the above ? -
Hubs & I live simply.
3.5k for the above monthly, exclude vacations, include maid & insurance -
Honestly how much spent is very moot. Noted that insurance is listed as one of the outlays - but this could be a form of savings (if there is investment/cash value at end of day), just that at our age, we only see money flowing out.

Yes, I told my family when I starting work with my first job. But like what u said end up my mum's friends, neighbours, uncles and aunties all got to know. After a few years i slowly stopped updating and just said a few percent increase yearly.KSP:

Yes... mums are good at telling salaries. I heard of my primary school classmate's (who is a scholar) salary from my mum. She heard from his mum...
She knows I am of a certain range and I stopped updating after a while. As I also cannot remember my monthly salary. :?
The other day, hubby was asking... what is your per annum now? I was like :? I can only remember last year's figure. -
