Hi, new to this forum though I have got help from all your valuable posts many times in the past
My DS applied for DSA in RI and got Jul 9 for his GAT. Then, he promptly fractured his right hand on Jul 1
Asked for a later date from RI and he was assigned Jul 16. SInce his right hand is in a cast from armpit to thumb, he had to do the shading with his left hand. Was very frustrated, but got the happy news today that he has been shortlisted for the half-day selection test on July 24. He has applied under the Maths DOmain. ANyone can help with what exactly will they be testing him on ? Time is 2.30pm- 4.35pm. SHould he be expecting Olympiad type of questions? Will there be enough time unlike the GAT where they had to complete sixty questions in twenty minutes !! As his writing hand is still out of action, we are just a wee bit anxious about how speedily he can write with his left
Thanks in Advance
Happy for you. They told me the final emails for offer will be today. -
Ruyu, I sincerely hope you do not carry on with this selfish and snobbish mentally as you move on, so what when you move on to a top school like RI and if you are scolded for your behavour then , it is going to affect RIโs name. Grow to be a gentleman and always a better personโฆ

To all p6 students :
All aunties & uncle are here curiously and anxiously to find out more info for their dd or ds..So please reply accordingly, politely or u can choose not to reply at all otherwise we will be  :!: :scared: :faint:
To all anxious parents:
My eldest child is only p5 this year, but I think is 'understandable' if those p6 here are unable/unwilling to share their experience at their recent dsa interview or test as I think they also gone thru it without other people telling them what to expect...so ...be fair to them la huh...
But we can check with parents, here, whose kids had dsa last yr or yrs before to have their valuable experience....
Above is just my opinion pls pls bare no grudges :snuggles: -
vlim:
I support your idea. Please dont be too harsh on the kids if they choose not to share. To all p6 students :

Hi there! I have just signed up for this forum.
My son has been selected for the RI selection test on 24 July under the English domain. I called up RI to get more clarity on the scope of the test but they wouldnโt comment much except that students can expect MCQs and Qs that test writing skills.
Can anyone shed more light on what a student can expect for the English domain test at RI?
Many thanks in advance! -
Hi ptnttsg and vlim,
I greatly appreciate your perspectives. But we are definitely not harsh on the kids. We just request them to share since we had shared so much with them (especially with Ruyu who asked so many questions on DSA, on GAT and other issues).
We are just reminding them that sharing cannot be a one-way street. Is it being harsh or reminding some simple morals?
Hi Pateras,
Thanks for sharing what info you got from RI. My son is also writing the Half-day selection test on 24 July but in Mother Tongue - Chinese domain. Let us hope that the kids who have appeared for Half-day selection test on 10 July share with us at least a few tiny winy bits of info.
All the best for your ds and for all students trying for DSA. -
your child has done well under the circumstances
the math domain test has a number \"out of the world\" type of questions, in terms of styles and difficulty level, beyond APMOPS 2nd round and RIPMWC 2nd round type of questions
they are out to kill
do try your very best, no fear !! (all candidates feel the same way)[/quote]
Thankyou for that piece of information. No use sweating then, let him do his best. There is always PSLE to fall back upon.
And thankyou ptnttsg
I am always touched by the sincerity of other parents who support, encourage, share smiles and tears in an uninhibited way
Very unique to this forum, inspite of its name! -
Hi again!
My son will also attend the HCI DSA selection test on 24 July. Besides GAT, there will also be English, Chinese and Maths tests.
Can anyone please share on what type of questions the student can expect for the English, Chinese and Maths tests at HCI?
Thanks. -

Hi Pateras, how are u able to make it for both? I tot HCI is full day from 9-5? Heard from frens last year tat HCI was really brain draining and a test on a child's stamina to go thru different test and end the day with a interview.Hi again!
