Also, there are people who live so far away and eventually the kid could not take it after a few months. Some parents do not realize that travelling tires the kid out. !
LOLz ... when our kids started going to St Nics (NO balloting in phase 2B that year - so v v fortunate!) and CHS, we lived outside 2km. They never changed schools. Girl continued to Sec 4, and ds1 went on to sec 1 in a school even further away even tho now we live quite nearby!!!! haha!!! And of course, St nics moved away from us. :x

I don't know if this helps, but CHS is very proud of their dancers. Their dance CCA obtained \"Gold with Honours\" without fail during every SYF. If your kid has gymnastics or dance talents, they might be eager to accept you.
This is only my guess, you may want to check with the school.!
I think any performing arts talents would be appreciated, bc these are not easy to groom within the school itself. Violinists, cellists, chinese orchestra, etc. Good performance in academics certainly.

Do note that if manage to transfer a child in p3 or p4, doesn't mean the younger sibling will get a place either, unless at p1 registration, lah. If younger sibling is like p2, they school won't guarantee a place as well.

Honestly speaking, if we get asked the same question a couple of hundred times a day, I suspect most of us will turn sullen when asked the same question yet again šŸ™‚ Let's not label a school as being elitist based on their response to a certain question šŸ™‚

Agree with Chief. My experience with CHS has been pleasant. I started emailing CHS as far back as June 2008 to check my eligibility under 2C using S&P for uncompleted properties. I asked the same old question yr after yr (kiasu !) until recently as my son is due for P1 registeration this year. I even called the school n spoke with a Mdm Woo n another Mdm Goh. They helped me assess my chances n advised me to register my boy at SJIJ 1st under phase 2A2 to guarantee a spot. Both were patient n even empathetic.

So in all fairness, CHS is not as arrogant as some may think. So chill ok?

I think they have a lot of paper work to be done since 96% of the places were taken up before 2B and that may be the reason they are very busy. The enquiries usually go to admin staff and whether the school is elite or not has nothing to do with them. They are working people just like us.

                    Dear all Bishan Mummies.

28 registered this morning. As I left the school at 3pm, parents were still coming. Looks like a lot of PVs are willing to risk it all. Understandable, since they have put in so much effort!

                      Dear Phankao,

You may not believe this, there are people who live in Jurong East and come all the way to CHS !

                        Dear Cherrygal,

Because Ai Tong has more vancancies compared to CHS and the area around it has no new development in recent years. A lot of PVs also stay within 1km of the school just to double their chances. Therefore, I think probability of getting into Ai Tong is higher.
