      When I heard the rain in the wee hours of the morning, my first thought was flood. We are not living in a flood prone area but…

      I went on to sleep and dreamt that my mum’s old house was flooded :!:

      My thoughts go out to those who are in flood prone area… What would their first reaction be if they heard thunderstorm in the middle of the night??? Stay up all night to monitor the situation? Drive their car away?

      A friend who was affected recently mentioned that if it rains at 4am in the morning, he would drive his car away. Things like that didn’t affect our lifestyle previously but now it does. Really wonder what went wrong?

          Way2GO:
          The crestgates take 20 minutes to be fully open; pumps of the size installed at the Barrage don't start up and run to full capacity instantaneously.
          So it is not peeing fast enough?? 😉

            Hi Blobbi :celebrate:
            It's not that rainstorms of these intensities are not unseen in Singapore before;
            To say it's a freak occurrence once in 50 years to explain it away if it happens once in a long while is plausible,
            but more than once within one month? :?
            There's more to it, don't you think?
            It's bureaucraticspeak mah, *grin*. Someone didn't do their sums correctly, which is why I think the changes that have caused this consistent flooding must have happened fairly recently. Like the Barrage. Or the fact that the ever increasing crisscrossing of MRT tunnels my have resulted in a blockade somewhere.

                    News came out that if these rain conditions is to continue for 3 mths, the properties in the flood prone areas will devalue..even if their houses did not flood but those of their neighbours will affect them as well..
