      hi all

      appreciate your help in the problem P6 Hokkien HK prelim Q15

      A car and a coach travelled from Town A to Town B. The coach left Town A at 0648 and it took 5 hrs to reach Town B. The car started 30 mins later than the coach and it took 4 hrs to reach Town B. At what time did the car catch up with the coach? (ans 0918)

      I saw the solution somewhere but don’t understand so can’t explain to my DS.

      Thanks

        Time taken (Coach) : Time taken (Car) -> 5 : 4
        Time difference -> 1u -> 30 min = 1/2 hr

        Time (car) -> 4u -> 4x 1/2hr = 2hr

        the car passed 2 hrs later

        06 48 + 30 min + 2 hr -> 09 18

            Hi Maths Guru please help :?: DS cannot solve and I also cant do 😒

            My friend and I went to a bookstore to buy books. We bought a total of 18 books over the last 3 days. The number of books I bought on the third day is equal to the sum of the total number of books my friend bought on the 2nd day and third days. The number of books my friend bought on the first day is 2 more than the sum of what I bought on the first and second days. How many books did each one of us buy?

              Hello,

              I bought 2 books less than my friend. We bought a total of 18 books.

              So I - Small unit; My friend - Big unit.

                  Uh....

                  Coach travels 1/5 OR 4/20 of the distance every hour
                  Car travels 1/4 OR 5/20 of the distance every hour

                  1/2 * 4/20 = 2/20

                  5/20-4/20=1/20

                  2/20 divide by 1/20 = 2

                  0648-> +30min -> +2 hours -> 0718 -> + 2 hours => 0918h

                  ANSWER 0918h

                      18 - 2 = 16
                      16 / 2 = 8 books --- I

                      18 - 8 = 10 books --- My friend

                        Dear Maths guru

                        Good morning.

                        Please help me on the Pei Hwa SA2 2009 Q17 paper 2:

                        Michael asked his classmate what time it was. Jackson the Math whiz replied with a cheeky grin, "It’s 2000 hours, 1990 minutes and 1980 seconds before midnight." Can you help Michael find out what time it is?

                        Thank you
                        Firebird
