I was one who contemplated paying $500 to join the alumni so that I can register my child in p2A1 (that was before joining KSP and became more informed).

Luckily for me, I missed the deadline for joining the alumni. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜“

I also missed the deadline to join alumni $80.
Spoke to a committee member about the chances of getting in under 2A2 and she told me HIGH chance. In that case, I didn't join alumni and saved the $80.

Then again... schs without strong alumni or long history... will have a higher chance to merged/close down... in years ahead?

Then our next generation will be relegated to 2B/2C mad rush again...

My mum's past efforts were wasted (Q early morn... see MP)... cos' my Pri sch has closed down since.

Hope my kid has better luck in future and the sch dun close down πŸ™‚

Children of old boy/girl of merged school qualify to register in phase 2A2 of the school which the old school merged into.

Seriously, I am glad to hear u say it is not easy for the SAHM to apply as a PV. My time has not come yet. So far I read somewhere in this forum that some mummies commented that there may be preferential selection towards SAHM wor. So that makes me worried when I read that... 😒
Yes, I didn't want to create a 'riot' by telling the actual/real story that happened to me but it's a fact we have to face I guess. I'm a PR. The other SAHM whom was succesful is local. I'm well educated & able to serve in all departments based on qualifications. The only reason I can think of is the fact that I'm PR. Well, I've put it all behind me as I just found out this morning that I'm out of Phase 2B. So, here we go again for 2C! How long more do u have b4 u need to register your child? I find these few wks of researching on stats, etc on registration has made me an expert! haha πŸ˜‰ It's frustrating, yes but it's all in God's hands. The only advise I hv for u is, if you REALLY want to ensure your child gets into the sch of your choice, pls move there 2 yrs ahead! & call the sch to ascertain it's within 1km.

Er…to add on, make sure when you call the school, also check with them whether they have any plans to relocate anytime soon.

Perhaps, it is just a stroke of luck sometimes. I personally know of a PR friend, the wife is a SAHM and managed to get selected as a PV in a GEP school even though she had just stayed in Singapore for a short period of time. Don't think she has any special skills. Remember that she just had to do reading with the school's children.

not really sure what really happen in your case, but I think it's not bec of PR. In my PV batch, there's a lot of PR. And these PR if there are staying within 1km, they are given the plc over SG PV who lives > 1KM & has to go thru balloting.

I think it is not related to SAHM or PR. It is dependent on what the school needs. I know of a PR SAHM who is a Chinese tutor and has done PV Chinese tuition weekly for a popular school for upper primary kids weak in Chinese. This type of task is not suitable for FTWM who is unable to commit to 1.5 hours weekly tuition, or those SAHM who is not familiar with school syllabus and not able to teach. For popular schools who have more than the required number of PVs, they tend to be more choosy and will choose the \"qualification\" of the PVs.
