Thanks for all info.....Given the Phase 2b results......what do u think of my chances of getting my son's registered in bukitpanjang primary and beacon primary given that we are staying within 1 km within both schools......? Still troubling over which school to register .......!

Answering on behalf of Tankee..

Phase 2C vacancies:
Beacon = (90 - 9) + 90 = 171 places
Bukit Panjang = (55 - 45) +55 = 65 places.

Based on the vacancies, your chances are definitely higher in Beacon compared to Bukit Panjang. Based on past history, staying within 1km is sure in but balloting is required for Bukit Panjang under 1km.

Hi igmum,

Beacon is having its open house on 28 July 4.30pm to 7.00pm. You could go down to take a look.

The school is also featured in Straits Time yesterday.

Thanks for your info...I got to know that and was planning to go....;)

I was keen to enrol my son into Beacon as it is also the nearest school to my place as compared to bukit panjang primary, except that my hubby is not so infavour of IT method of teaching....(esp when Beacon has no past PSLE records yet being so new)......

I am now pinning my hopes to the open house this coming wed....hoping that we can understand their way of teaching more....and clarify our other doubts......

I was there too.

I really like the new school facilities and the technology they use.

But I am still concerned about whether this methodology will work as we have not seen the results yet.

How about you? Are you still going for BPPS?

Hi, I’m new to this forum.


I need some advice regarding the P1 resgistration. I’m staying at Blk 228 pending road and my school of choices is either bukit panjang pri or beacon pri.

I’m ok with either of these 2 schools. But my friend did tell me, for anyone staying between 1-2KM from Beacon pri can forget about it. As the school priority will be given to people living less than 1KM.

So should i just go ahead for bukit panjang pri since i will higher chance of getting in?

Please have a look at the balloting history for Bukit Panjang: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/bukit-panjang

For BPPS, it had conducted balloting the past 2 years for under 1km, while Beacon conducted balloting for 1-2km. Since your home is under 1km to both schools (according to http://www.onemap.sg), you actually stand a higher chance going to Beacon.

That said, past history doesn't mean the exact same situation will happen again this year. What you can do is first to confirm you are indeed within 1km from Beacon. Then throughout the 3 days of 2C registration, find out how many under 1km applicants there are in each school. Finally register at the school where your chances are the highest.

BigDevil is correct. You may stand a higher chance at Beacon. Moreover, the places for Beacon this yr at 2C is slightly higher than last yr's, 170 as compared to 163.

That aside, generally all the schools in Bukit Panjang have slightly more places this yr for 2C than last yr.
