Do you mean they have UMF10 and UMF15 Manuka Honey? So which one should my son take? He's 8 and what is the difference? Is this Manuka Honey like normal honey? Must I mix it with water and how many times to give my DS per day? Thank you.
Hi S-H,
Manuka UMF starts from 5 until 25. UMF25 is for people who are very sick as in having tumours...For adults, it's best to take UMF15. Children below 10 can take UMF5 or 10.
It's best to take a teaspoon on empty stomach every morn. After swallowing it, drink a little water so as not to dilute the 'goodness' of UMF. Also very effective when you have sore throat and phlgem. For adults who have gastric, apply the Manuka on a piece of bread.
Manuka Honey is diff from normal Honey bcos it has health benefits.
No need to put in the fridge at all, just keep it away direct from sunlight. -

i tink it sounds like \"liu huang\". it's actually sulphur, yellow color somemore. i can almost confirm. izit safe to consume? n oh no my girl started coughing n havin runny nose after her pneumococcal jab. i really hate vaccinations. tink she took close to 100ml of medicine for the past couple of weeks. hai...There is this Chinese medicine known as the Niu Huang (it is a yellow powder) which you give your kid eat once when he is around 2 or 3 years old then the phlegm will disappear. Can check with the medicine hall. My neice, nephew, Kid all ate once and phlegm went away.
When I was a kid, I got the same problem, always coughing away with phlegms, then while I was 10, I took 1 portion and there goes my persistence cough.
So maybe you can try it out. -
"Niu Huang" and "liu huang" is different thing.

I thought sulphur is poisonous and meant to chase the snakes away. -
Best to keep the room "moist".
At one point, my gal was down with flu n cough. Keep coughing badly every night n was keeping me awake. I bought humidifier to keep the room moist and with the fan rotating. Make sure child not facing the fan as it will make them cough more. Something like the air gone in their nose/mouth, it irritates their narrow airway, etc.
Try not to on the aircon as it will make the air dry, making them cough more.
I apply some bb vicks on her chest as well. -
I used HNZ honey, finds it good. My children loved it and cough will usually healed the following day.

swimming really gd har.. i also heard ppl saying.. since he born i haven start to bring him to swim cos scare he catch a cold.. jogging.. my boy only 20 mth leh.. haah[/quote]Swimming is generally good for kids, but if your child have weak airway as my girl, then have to reconsider....need to wait till her breathing system is better then can think to send her to learn swimming,... otherwise will get sick every week for months... >.<|||
Try to put him through some aerobic sports like swimming and jogging. They really help if you keep at it everyday. Help to build up resistance naturally.ChiefKiasu:

Vitamins! I give my kids vitamin C, calcium, multivits for growth and development. Like someone said, exercising build immune system too. But if for a young toddler to fall sick often, eat lots of food/fruits rich in vitamin c and anti-oxidants. Eg, spinach, grapes, ketchup, tomatoes, fresh fruit juices, etc...and lots of fish.
i tried to give him the cod fish liver oil but he dun want.. and doc prescribe me a syrup for vit but til now haven give cos he sick and on lots of medication.. -

You can get the doctor to say that to my father and mother-in-laws.. It really a pain to explain to them that child get sick often when in preschool is a \"normal\" nowsaday... but my father-in law will say that the doctor is a cheap..the medi could not cure his granddaughter...he should not come out to be doctor.... oh my god!!!When my son has fever, he can still be running around and playing. Same for flu. The doctor said the medicine wont cure him, it only 'cure the symptoms' so I try not to feed him medicine unless he looked listless.
