So all we can do now is pray... in any case, went to BTPS open house and school environment is nice. Guess if really can't make it to PHPPS, BTPS will have to do.

19 out of 37 is also majority mah. There're 44 vacancies so don't lose hope.

Not trying to dash any hopes.

I've called the school to check on the latest update. She immediately said, the applicants have exceeded. Balloting is require less than 1km.

As of today, there are 48 applicants that are within 1km have registered today. And she said there are also some applicants that are within 2km, but looks like they will be calling them to encourage them to withdraw and find other school with better chances.

Yup, if 2004 is the lowest birth rate, then where did all these Singaporean kids come from ??? They are definitely 'accounted' for since birth regardless of whether they are born here or overseas.

School allocation of seats for the year is also based on birthrates. If more kids born, like dragon year, some schools will increase their intake. Also, many parents think that since it's lowest birth rate, they can register into their desired schools, then those neighborhood schools .... go check, not that many registrations compared.

oh, btw, last year and year before, PHP had 360 seats, this year, they decrease a class size to only 330.

For parents who feel that their children are exceptionally bright and can't make it to PHP, BTPS might be a good choice as they pride themselves for grooming kids for GEP. According to another parent in PHP, during GEP round 3, only handful of PHP kids made it while BTPS came in a bus! And because most their brightest leave at P3, it's really hard for them to fight for a placing during PSLE thus seems like an unpopular school. Also, the school has a better teacher to children ratio I think, which to me, is a good thing.

Well, if my kid can't cope with PHP because of multiple learning differences (next year P1), I may withdraw him to homeschool or send to BTPS instead. Let him try out 2 years and see how. This school standard might be too stressful.

In August, Primary 3 pupils in Singapore schools have the opportunity to take the GEP Screening Test, comprising 2 papers: English Language and Mathematics

Approximately 4000 pupils are shortlisted to sit the GEP Selection Test in October, comprising 3 papers: English Language, Mathematics and General Ability.

I think the shortlisted pupils are invited for an interview after that.

About 500 pupils are admitted into the Programme at Primary 4.

yes, I know about the round 1 & round 2 but have not heard about round 3 nor interview (more blurr than u)
