I would choose MSHS (Not because my son is there :)). Many parents starts to transfer their kids to MSHS when they realised that their kids are not doing well in their chinese, they hope that by transferring their kids to MSHS, their kids can improve in their chinese, however MSHS require them to take entrance exam (which includes chinese) when they want a transfer. Many a times, they are not successful in the transfer. MSHS will only select the top few who did well in all the subjects.Hi Parents out there,
We are within 1km to both St Andrews Junior and Maris Stella Pri, SAJS is within walking distance (we live in Potong Pasir) while MSP we need to travel. SAJS now 62 out of 71 within 1 km for Phase 2C while MSP is 32 out of 91 within 1km as of 2 Aug...
Which would you have chosen and why? Thanks in advance... -
Daddy

Maris is a SAP school where they offer Higher Chinese from P1. If can't follow, then can drop to CL2 at P5 & 6 for PSLE. Non-SAP schools offer CL2 from P1 then those who are good at Chinese will take Higher Chinese at P5&6 for PSLE (opposite la). MSH can drop at P3? Not sure... but other SAP schools only allow u to drop at P5. Anyway, hope can tahan Higher Chinese all the way to PSLE...
Wahhh... sounds stressful...
Got Bio a not? DUH...
PSLE score is based on how many subjects now? Can't be CL2 and CL1 having the same weightage towards PSLE right?[/quote]Only one MT score is included in PSLE result. Those taking Higher Chinese will sit for both Higher Chinese paper and Normal Chinese paper. Only the marks for Normal Chinese is taken. The score for Higher Chinese is only considered if the secondary school the child goes to, is a SAP school and the score is awarded as 1 pt, 2pt, or 3 pts, which are bonus points to gain entry into SAP schools. Thus, all, if not most, students who take Higher Chinese should be able to score A* as they take the same paper as those who are taking normal Chinese. -

So is it true that Pei Chun only allow those within 1km to apply? Are we able to ask how many are PRs and how many Singaporeans?

If all is within 1km (which means there would be balloting) and anyone out of 1km would be \"dropped out\" immeidately, then why would anyone still waste their chance by putting their name in Pei Chun?? :? -

Because they didn't know? :scratchhead:
You will be surprised to know that there are people who do not know they are allowed to withdraw and apply at another school. -
Currently, its 81 applicants for Pei Chun and all within 1km.
