YTPS already balloted last year in 2C... isn't surprised since many schools seems to be going for ballot ... good luck!

ya, last yr 3 out of the 4 nearby schs (YTPS, UPS, DLS, KPS) needs to go thru balloting. was praying hard this yr no need cos tot 2004 birth rate not high, but hiaz....

now see if my gal is lucky enuff to get into the sch of her choice or not. out of 129 reg yesterday, 126 are < 1KM and they only hv 114 vacancies!

Kranji Primary School’s vacancies increased by 1 from 182 to 183

would like to check for example dls has 77 vacancies but the no. of applicants is 94.I am sure there will be ballot for this instance but the ballot will be categorised according to distance right. So let say there are abt 30 applicants out of the 94 staying within 1km. Will this grp be given priority and be given seats automatically and then the remaining 47 vacancies be balloted. how exactly does the distance priority work ? pse enlighten be thks to u all.

let me explain with an example


if vacancy is 40 and there are
- 30 applicants within 1km
- 20 applicants 1-2 km
- 10 applicants above 2km

the 30 applicants within 1km will all be successful (PR & Singaporean all successful).

the 20 applicants 1-2 km will ballot for the remaining 10 places since 30 taken up by within 1km. The Singaporean child will have 2 slips placed in the balloting bowl, while the PR child will have 1.

the 10 applicants above 2 km will all be unsuccessful, no chance to ballot at all.

For DLS, every yr they have ballot at 2C for <1km. So if 94 applied, that means all are <1km. They do not accept registration for those staying 1 - 2km. I can understand your confusion coz the staff simply talked about <1km.
