All About Pregnancy

Halow Kelamel,
Tried to tell your wife to take frequent small light diet for the time being, if she dun vomit like I do, she is luckier. Sometimes a small apple or a Bun... can consider as a meal... Maybe 3-4 hrly feeding like a bb.
I gets very hungry after 11pm recently but I know i can only take light diet, so I ask my hubby to heat up soup for me... Try to rest early, if too bloated, sleep abit upright maybe a pillow behind the back. No food and not to much water 1-2hrs before sleep. Dun take too acidic, spicy or strong flavour food. Go to the website Shashimi intro to me.
Now I am suffering from insomnia, I sleep ard 3-5am, and wake up around 8-9am.. Very tired in the days... I think my bb will have dark rings when born...
Really need lots of hubby's TCL... and understandings... and hubby must be smart enough not to piss us off at this critical time... Our physical and emotional changes makes us very tiring already... We may be hungry at this moment, vomit the next moment. May be laughing for little things but crying for even smaller things... (Frankly speaking sometimes we cant control yelling at hubby and forget why the next moment... )
Congrats to you! We should be parents at the same week or so... May we have a happy and healthy pregnancy...

Harlow, my wife oso is expecting and went to see a gynae last week. We were told shes abt 5 weeks preggy, and yup one black dot in the water bag....no heartbeat yet lei....
i told her when shes sleeping, the \"little dwarfs\" are working to manufacture the vital organs...heehee
Lastly my wife gets lots of gas in her tummy after eating and she feel like shes having gastric (she does have a history of gastric before) everyother day.....anyone got any solution ? -
kelamel, when I was expecting, I had lots of gas and bloatedness too. What jenniferjoey said is correct, take small meals and eat frequently. I also asked my gynae back then if it was safe to take antacids for the gas, and he said yes. I was already taking antacids before I was pregnant for excessive gas and gastric so I just continued. Some antacids may taste yucky, which may cause nausea, so I only took Mylanta since it has a minty flavour. (I donโt know if Mylanta is still available in Singapore cos I tried looking for it recently but no luck.)

Thanks alot, you should be a nice husband, your wife is so fortunate. My hubby asked me whether I regret now to have this baby and makes me suffer so much. I got so mad, and tell him not to talk to me. Hmm.. He is the one hoping me to get pregnant... :x
I went to see Gynae on Thursday, he tried to do a ultrasound but can't detect the heartbeat, intially he said that it's already six weeks after the scan he said 5 weeks... We can only see the waterbag and abit tiny dot about 3mm small. In the end I have to go back next Friday to do a ultrasound again... I am very worried and when I see the Gynae expression as he can't find the heartbeat, I can tell he was worried too. Except for my hubby he is still blur...
My vomitting is getting worse, Before food vomit, after food also vomit, drink water also vomit... Touch a bit of dirt also vomit, smell of food, raw meat/fish, smell of disgusting body odor also vomit. Feel so bad when people know that I vomit because they smell. My gastric and tummy hurts...
I used to go out everyday at least once, now I just hope I don't need to eat, and walk... Everything makes me vomit....
I will try out your reccomendations... Thanks alot... So nice of you...
[quote=\"sashimi\"]Hi - I feel really sorry for you, and your daughter is so nice! As a father I can't possibly understand fully what you are going through, but here's the least I can do:

Kelamel,
Jenniferjoey's concern is whether the pregnancy sac is growing or not as its supposed to be 6 weeks old but the scan by the gynae shows that the age is only 5 weeks.
Jenniferjoey,
Did you gynae recommend any hormone pills?
strong morning sickness is a good sign that the sac is developing. Don't worry.........just pray. -
Thanks to all of you and your encouragements, I am currently 9th week and 5 days pregnant...
I am still going thru the stage on serious 'morning' sickness, Gynae said I am quite dehydrated, and whenever I am really not well, I can just get hospitalised and rehydrate myself... I try all the methods that Sashimi has introduced to me. Some worked some don't, but there are bad and lucky days for me, so far only a few lucky days that I tried to prevent myself from vomitting by eating little, and light diet. But some days every methods don't worked and I ended up toss and turn in bed, eat, vomit whole day... My face still pale esp after vomit several times, and I get cold sweat, giddiness, fainting spell... quite scary... My mum and mother-in-law make some tonics for me, maybe that's why I still can here chatting...
Well I hope my nightmares can be over in a few weeks time and let me enjoy this pregnancy...

Hiya jenniferjoey,
Hang in there. Great girl, your daughter (is she the cutie in your avatar?).
You may like to try controlling your breathing as well as a herbal sack (dried mint and ginger) over your forehead. It worked for my friend who had it bad like you during her pregnancy.
First you lay flat on your back, palms at your side facing up and relax your whole body. Control breathing by breathe in thru your nose and out thru your mouth. As you breathe in, expand your stomach (not your chest) and pull in your stomach as you breathe out. Take 10 counts to breathe in and 10 to breathe out, ie. breathe in slowly counting 1 to 10 and breathe out slowly counting 1 to 10 too. This is a relaxing technic that can help regulate your breaths. Try it when you are tired or tense.
The herbal sack you can try making it yourself. Buy a bunch of fresh mints, wash and pick the leafs and dry them in the sun. Wash and grate ginger with skin on and dry them in the sun too. Just mix equal potion in a gauzy bag that you can get in those cosmetic accessories store. Gently rub it to give off the smell. If you donโt mind drinking ginger tea, grate some ginger and boil it with some brown sugar, store in a thermos. Drink it warm before food can help too.
Try to do some walking or any light exercises that can help relaxes you. When you are tense, your body will react strongly too.
Take careโฆ -

Will try out your methods, hope can get better.... Can the ginger tea be those packet type or must be fresh ginger?? I hardly step into market anymore as I no longer can take the smell of the market... or even the bus... In the bus every person who has abit strong smell I will vomit.
Thanks for your advices, so nice of you all...

Hiya
The ginger bag is gd enough. The fresh root is tastes better to me. Just make the whole lot and sips a little whenever you feel nausea.
Hopes it helps, take care and keep your spirit up. :celebrate: -
Hi Everyone,
I am back after 1 month...
I am now 16th weeks pregnant I think... 24 more weeks to go... :?
After hospitalised for 2 times for rehydration, and fainted once outside, I am better. (Cross my fingers and toes) Good news is I only vomit one time massive one for the past 1 week. Now I felt so much better as I restored enough food and energy for me and my bb. Bad news is I develop serious right hip bone pain, and Gynae suggested me complete rest in bed and I shouldn't be sitting up or walking around too often. Hmm... Due to my serious morning sickness, I rarely go out and rarely move, rarely do housechores...
Can I have a voting of whether hubby should see to wife's needs esp when wife is having a difficult pregnancy? My hubby complaint of tiredness one night when he's suppose to massage my feet so that I can sleep. (His skills isn't good but I need him to massage so that I get the comfort and circulation going and I falls asleep within 10min, if not I will be imsomnia whole night.) Then after argument we have cold wars for a week and he's happy and free for a week while I get insomnia for a week.
Hmm... and also wonder if is it real that when pregnant wife got craving hubby will try their means and ways to get the food right away, but my hubby can just tell me dun have and the next day forget about it totally... I have to hint or even tell him where to get... Hmm.. He's trying to get away from this right? Now becos of pregnancy I am blurr and forgetful.
Is there any advices for me of how to get over with it, any mums suffering from this too? Or know how to make hubby doing things willingly at least for this period of time when I rarely can step out of the house?

Welcome back jenniferjoey! Sorry to here of the difficult pregnancy you are having... perhaps when your kids grow up, they can refer to this thread which is a historical archive of what their mummy went through just to give them life!
As for what hubbies are supposed to do to help out the wife during pregnancies, well, there are some really involved ones and there are some who still do not have a clue. But sometimes, even the very involved ones do get tired... we are human, after all. Focus on the little things that your hubby does that make you happy, and tell him how happy and appreciative you are that he is helping you during this difficult time. The last thing you want to do is to try to make him feel guilty because that will make him defensive and things can spiral downwards from there. Just my 2 cents worth

Is your husband close to your present daughter? If so, engage her to engage him. I know this is a bit scheming, but โฆ who cares! Talk to your daughter and sort of get her sympathy. If sheโs old enough she should be able to sympathize with you, esp. with her sibling on the way. One possibility, get her to go to your husband and say something like, "daddy can you please teach me how to buy [food you are craving for]?" โฆ and I hope he gets it.
Is anything (else) bothering your husband? Eg. at work? I would like to say, as a father/breadwinner, that we men often donโt like to talk about problems at work, but when we get home, it surfaces as a general dislike to deal with family chores, etc. cos itโs our only place of escape (from office). And yes, I know this comes across looking like weโre being irresponsible and unsympathetic.
