Cherrygal... I can't help but comment on this. Wonder if we gave birth on the same day :lol:

It was my 3rd but most complicated delivery and I heard someone screaming next door in the middle of a delivery that \"Wo bu yao sheng le !!!!!!!!!\". That was my 1st experience without epidural (gynae's advice since I have HELLP) and my platecount was too low (had to undergo transfusion at the same time). They are worried my blood cannot clot properly and will have further implications so he said no epidural.

My sec school teacher once described the experience to us. I fully understand what she meant at my 3rd pregnancy. It's so pain that when they cut you, you don't feel it anymore. Yes... you can feel someone sewing you up or cutting you but the pain is no longer incremental.

:lol: hahaha, I don't think tatz me coz I didn't scream in Chinese. It was more of \"ouch ouch ouch\". Near the final stage, I told my gynae to just get ds out of me! He was \"huh\" (coz nearly 3am) and he came in slippers and shorts, half awake.

ehh.. I learnt something new today - baby in tummy can have high fever? Scary leh...

I guess it's due to infection... the ICU case I mentioned in my post was due to meconium in the amniotic fluid. As the labor was long, the baby got distressed and passed meconium (baby's first motion) inside the water bag. So, the baby got infection and both mother and baby can have fever. This usually happens to overdue babies or big-sized babies. The gynae detected meconium in the fluid but the mother was adamant on natural birth (coz she wanted the experience) despite being warned. So he regret not forcing her to c-section.

Gals, just listen to doctors next time... dun be heroine at the expense of your own life or child's life. Better to be kiasi and kiasu.

Yes dear and suddenly I too had high fever though my whole pregnancy was very nice and normal... but then my DS1 head was almost coming out phew we both have high fever they could give me panadol but wat bout baby so they did emergency C-section... and had to keep baby in special care for 3 days but then all was fine later on...

Only problem was I was discharged and he still have to kept for another 2 days extra that was like horrible time

I can imagine that it must have been a very tough time.. being separated..I know of a few cases whereby baby had to stay back due to jaundice.. so stressful..but at least they are in good hands.. so I had a friend who purposely extend stay in hospital just to be with baby!

hmm, I hope I'm not the one. gave birth to my 2nd without epidural (DH was adamant). Dunno how but in the midst of the labour pains, I managed to squeeze out a joke to the midwife that lucky they gave me the room furthest away from the entrance of the delivery ward (the entrance faces the IVF clinic); if they have given me one nearest to the entrance, IVF will suddenly lose a lot of customers.

DD had jaundice and stayed an extra 2 days.
For those 2 days, during the days, I sat outside the nursery waiting to nurse her every 3 hours. Throughout the night, DH and I slept two hours or so, then drove to the hospital and have me nurse her. By the 3rd day, we were or bak kak but it's all worth it. When you see that beautiful face looking up at you whilst wheeling her in her little plastic cot to the BF room, what's not to love? :love:

came to hospital in the morning then went back in the night imagine 3 days after c-section i am just just there.. but worth every moment... luckily he could go back then 2nd day :love: :love:

And thru it all, I'm sure there was not a moment of hesitation not to do it... mother-baby bond :love: :love: :love:

:udawoman: I salute your great sacrifice... my dd was discharged without jaundice but it came on 3rd day and by 7th day, it was quite bad. So she went back to hospital for 2 days of phototherapy. I just expressed my milk and brought it there for her but nothing like you... Me and my confinement woman didn't know what else to do at home... Paed said it was better to keep her in hospital than rent that UV kit at home coz she won't get treatment properly.

DS Birth Story.


This time round, the pregnancy was not as symptomless as with DD. I will feel nauseous at about 10am and it will last till about 12 noon and thereafter, I will be fine. That lasted for about 3 mths. I will also feel super duper sleepy in the late afternoon. The a yawn a minute kind of drowsiness. And had a scare with DS cos I was bleeding from 2nd mth till about close to 5th mth. Doc said low lying placenta, it was actually lying across my cervix. But as the pregnancy progressed, the placenta moved up. Then starting from about 6th month, I had terrible rashes. Could not sleep at night because of that, and to avoid tearing my skin from excessive scratching, I resorted to hitting myself. Ended up with bruises all over. Found out it's PUPPP, suffered through it up until 1 mth after birth of DS.

Due to my experience with DD, I opted for C-sect this time with epi. We scheduled the C-sect at 38 weeks cos the rashes were really bothering me and DS was not growing much in my womb anymore.

Reported at the hospital early in the morning as the procedure was scheduled for 11am. Was prepped for the surgery and DH went to get himself ready to join us in the op theatre. Coincidentally had the same anesthesiologist and he actually remembered me. Was a bit drowsy from the epi and the moment DH stepped in, the show began. I did not feel any pain but did get a funny sensation when the doc cut into me. Then the anesthesiologist helped to push the top of my abdomen while my gynae pulled DS out. Though DS was not a big baby, he had really chubby cheeks, exactly like what we saw during the scan, Doc had a 3D scan so we managed to see what DS looked like even b4 he was born. In the middle of it all, I heard my Doc asking the nurse to standby 3 pints of 0+ blood and the nurse came to look at me then told the doc I still look ok, not pale. B4 DH went with the nurse to see DS get settled, my Doc arranged for have lunch with him while, all the while stitching me up. Then he said DS actually turned from the head down position from our last scan. He was actually lying diagonal when the Doc removed him from my womb. From the time that I was wheeled to the OR to the time that I was wheeled back to my room, less then 1hr. And DH abandoned me to lunch with my Gynae irritating.

It was after lunch with my gynae that DH told me that there was a slight complication during the op, apparently the Doc cut into a large blood vessel which is not suppose to be there which resulted in a fairly large loss of blood. That explains why the Doc suddenly ordered blood on standby. But all's well that ends well as the doc managed to stop the bleed and I was perfectly fine.

Surprisingly, I find the pain from the c-sect wound bearable. Did not even need any painkillers after the epi wore off. But I could feel my uterus contracting and I think cos I did not go through labour, it felt a lot more intense then when I had DD. All in all, I find my recovery from the c-sect a breeze. Much faster and better then when I had DD which was assisted natural with epi.

2 different pregnancy experience, 2 different birth experience, 2 wonderful beautiful kids.

If I am blessed with a #3, wonder what it will be like, but I will definitely go for c-sect again.
