      Way2GO:
OK, can somebody knowledgeable advise this klutz how to change the title?

      Thx.
Nope, you'er not a klutz

Believe only mods can help you with this ......

Yoo hoo mods :imanisland:, please assist Way2GO :?:

ps: you are right about the other connotation of the word, Way2GO. This is also the definition that I found in my Collins Cobuild EL Dictionary:

\"You can refer to an activity as an orgy of that activity to emphasize that it is done to an excessive extent\".

There are 2 sentences to illustrate the use of this word based on the above definition in the dictionary:

      1) One eye-witness said that the rioters were engaged in an orgy of destruction

      2) He blew $43 000 in an 18-month orgy of spending

I learnt how to use this word in another context today πŸ˜„

I do know the meaning of orgy. It’s used in a negative sense. Why should an occasion like the YOG be associated with such a negative word? Is this wat the so-called gripes refered to by MM Goh in his recent speech?

Wny can’t we all just be proud that the country is hosting the first ever YOG?

          ksi:
          ...

So it's either move thread or take away the wittiness in the title.
ksi, we should keep dis topic in d general forum.
YOG is meant for everyone, not only notti parents πŸ˜‰
          d title will be changed.
          Cheers.

Okie, now that this has been sorted out .... I'd like to share my 'findings' of this word that has generated some interest.

No, I am not here to pour oil into the fire. Please do not misunderstand my intention. Its just that the use of the word ignited an interest in me cuz I majored in English and American Lit and the use of words have always fascinated me - but of course πŸ˜„

Once again, I am just here to plainly share and perhaps enlighten/educate, just like I have been, recently.

What I found is that the word \"orgy\" may not necessarily be associated with negative connotations. Its just that we have been exposed to it being used in the negative sense, hence we tend to have that notion about the word.

Below are some synonyms/definitions associated with the word 'orgy', both negative and positive, for those who are interested.

                http://thesaurus.com/browse/orgy?__utma=1.279392324.1281278281.1281278281.1281278281.1&__utmb=1.6.9.1281280037999&__utmc=1&__utmx=-&__utmz=1.1281278281.1.1.utmcsr=%28direct%29%7Cutmccn=%28direct%29%7Cutmcmd=%28none%29&__utmv=-&__utmk=168460833

Once again, I reiterate that I am only here to share what I have learnt, personally. πŸ˜„

What comes to my mind when I hear the word orgy - hedonistic over-indulgence a la Romans in Asterix and Obelix, no?
