Well..not too sure if this should be in this category, but the PS3 is a pretty high tech toys, and a definitely IT related one at that. I think it can also give a child some good groundings on IT and an inkling of the future when IT converges into the living room.

After messing with it for a month or two, there are some pretty cool things that you can do with it.
      1. It can be a computer that you can use in your living room (install PS3 linux)
      2. It can be a internet brower.
      3. It can be a media player.
      4. It can be a game console (of cos :))
      5. It can be a social applicaiton (look at the Playstation@home). It has a Second life equivalent.
      6. It is a science experiment (look at folding@home).
      7. It can be a tool to encourage creativity (look at games like littleBigPlanet).

My girl got pretty excited about [email protected] have moved from Habbo hotel to this.

Little Big Planet is fun, cute and frustrating. Get stuck in one of the planet and played for 1 hour, we still unable to clear, in the end, switch it off to watch TV. πŸ˜„

hehe. Yes, definitely requires some deft finger skills.

I am totally amazed at the programming and the physics that makes the objects interaction so realistic. The multi player mode is quite cool too...where you could play cooperative to finish certain task.

Me too...BluRay are definitely at a premium price for now. But it should drop over time. I am beginning to see rental shops with BluRay for rent. However, still pretty expensive compared to regular DVDs.

              For games, look at this
              http://forums.gameaxis.com/forumdisplay.php?f=248

You can get 2nd hands games and BluRays, sometimes at a good price.

Can we include Wii discussions here too? πŸ˜„

Just got Pajama Sam for my kids. Think they will have a blast with it during the hols.

Has anybody tried http://www.amazon.com/Cranium-Kabookii-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B000VB16PQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1243250559&sr=8-1? It looks like a very entertaining family game show.
