Again, I am not 'in the system'.... but the point about the principals can be clarified here :

http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/2009/10/appointment-of-principals.php

KPS's previous principal Mr. Sam Wong Poo Mun, now principal of Canberra Primary.
KPS's current principal Mrs. Chin Shin Wea, previously principal of Loyang Primary school (not YTPS).

YTPS's previous principal Mrs. Brenda Tan retired in 2008 (also the year YTPS produced top PSLE pupil, you can find archive of newspaper reports).
YTPS's current princiapl is Mrs. Janis Kok, previously VP of Fengshan primary.

In short, it is not true the ex-YTPS principal is now principal of KPS.
but I can GUESS the rumours/confusion you heard COULD be because YTPS's first principal was a Mrs. Chin. She also retiried and she was succeeded by Mrs. Brenda Tan.

As for KPS, there must be some reasons why this school and TWPS have vacancies in phase 3 year after year ?

You are correct to take into account the P factor.

Let me share what SV Jenny said during one of the sch occasion when there were parents and channel 8 Media…
"If your child wishes to join SV, parents should to be prepared to be interviewed by Media."
"Pri schs in Singapore are generally good, but there are differentiation"

Sch P moulds the sch culture & vision.
B4 2004, SV results was just average…
From 2004, Jenny joined the sch…

If you speak to current Sec sch teachers in CCK area, you will know the difference of the Sec 1 students performance formerly from DLS and from SV…
Over the years, DLS standard dropped quite a bit…

In reality, at phase 2C supp, only Kranji & Teck Whye have enuf vacancies. So…only limited choices…

Concord & CCK Pri sure balloting at phase 2C supp, for within 1KM.
And if ballot-out in phase 2C supp, then will b phase 3, which is "1st come 1st register basis"

If you're near YT, i'd suggest you keep your child's name there on waitlist.
hi, you meant can put my gal's name on waitlist at YT?

But i heard ex Yew Tee principal is in Kranji pri now . Is it true ??
Pls pardon my skills in the reply as this is my first time. Have been reading the forum page quite some time as really appreciate the forumers kind views as it were useful.

I thought I could help as I have been doing some research on Kranji.I think it is not true that the principal was from YT. I think the new kranji principal is from Loyang in Pasir Ris I think. The previous principal has rotated to Canberra Pri Sch. Hope this helps
Hi mhtan, ur eng/ skills are good! better than me ! 🙂 i never heard the Kranji Principal is fr YT..yeah it's correct the principal is from Loyang! Just can't understand that since YT got so many applicants why they reduce the seats to 240 and Kranji so less ppl apply but have 270 seats!!! :stupid:

what's the logic behind? since less popular and yet give so many seats for what? sigh...let's see the what the new principal can do for Kranji now...

Not principal's prob. It's due to single-session implementation.
Same for other sch in CCK. Eg: SV.

Dr. Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Education, announced on 14 April 2009 that the Ministry of Education (MOE) has accepted the recommendations of the Primary Education Review and Implementation (PERI) Committee, chaired by Ms Grace Fu, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Education, to enhance the quality of primary education.
As part of the changes, MOE will move all primary schools towards a single-session model progressively over the next few years. Single-session schools would provide teachers with additional time and space to deliver a more holistic education, allowing pupils to benefit from a wider range of academic and non-academic activities. The gradual reduction in enrolment is to free up capacity so as to create the space for the afternoon session pupils to move to the morning session eventually.

Yes, dearie. :hugs:

Waitlisting your child's name there will deem you're definitely still interested
in the school regardless if your child is already enrolled elsewhere. Many who
got balloted out from SV and DLS do still put their children's names on waitlist
and they are ready to make the shift and all the necessary sacrificial changes
that come with it, especially if they are really really near to the school & yet
still got balloted out due to limited vacancies. Do call the school to find out
more, ok ikae? Different schools will have different protocol.

Your first time here and you're already doing good, mhtan.

Your sharing has diffused many hearsays & rumours that may unnecessarily
stir confusion in parents within the neighbourhood. As your facts were taken
from actual context and the truth behind those hearsays, let's hope parents
here can understand a bit more on the Principal history of schools within this
area in mention over the recent posts. While it is not entirely justifiable to say
that a good Principal alone will spur success in a school since there are too
many people involved in building that reputation, (ie. teachers, students, PSG,
parents, other school staff.. (etc)..... a good Principal will spur better motivation
and gear staff, students and parents alike towards that success. It's like in the
workforce as well. When you get a good boss, the plc is a happier plc to work
in and will indirectly initiate motivation, efficiency, initiatives and more....
to make the company a success driven one.

Yew Tee Pri is in the process of implementing single session. As the school is
small and no plans of reno works or relocation has been heard thus far, they
have no choice to reduce the intake due to space constraints. Currently, the
P1s and P2s are the only levels in the afternoon. All schools gotta go single
session by a certain deadline (forgot the year..) and so they got to
factor in that there will be sufficient classes for the number of students
offered to study there each year.
