All About Preparing For Primary One

we too tankee.. :D[/quote]You can try printing out the name in large font, laminate it, then get the kids to practice writing over it with marker first.
oh dear ! :shock:tankee:

i lack this foresight and chose to give my ds2 a name that has so many strokes.. :stupid:
My DS's name is easy to write, we planned ahead fearing that he would be punished to write his name 100 times by some teacher some day.

Hi sleepy,
I don’t know what approach the school is using…all I know is the approach is not in line with P1 now. Sentence rearrangement for Chinese is rather tough at K2 level. As for 听写, I will just teach her to write the easier ones…maybe one page for each one. The impt thing now is to 认字. -

Hi JanetHi Mummies,
My daughter was given both Chinese and English homework today.
For English, the worksheet is on preposition...no problem for that. But for Chinese, it was rearranging of sentence. :!: My daughter could only recognize 妈妈 and 洗. Other than that, she doesn't know the rest, let alone rearranging to form a sentence. Oh yes, next Tuesday's 听写 is 上衣, 长裤,纽扣 袖子. Any mummies here encounter such characters for K2 ?
The 听写 is no easy for word like 裤,纽. I remember during dd times, there wasn't any spelling. Things really change so much. No wonder next year P1 parents started feeling the stress. -

I find it crazy :stupid: Now can her kindergarten teacher be giving such characters ? If it's characters like 写,跑,走,跳, it makes sense but 裤 is hardly used. Most if not all primary schools are gearing P1s towards an interesting method of learning.

Have you heard of this book 'Zhi Xing Hua'? I find it interesting & useful in 认字Hi sleepy,

Hi my daughter read your thread and she asked me to write this to help your dd get out of her current state. She suggested that you put up a \"rewards\" chart and you assign stars when she has done well for the day (be it behavior or homework or reading). She can use this to exchange for rewards according to the number of stars she has (eg. 5 stars for 1 small toy; 10 stars for something more valuable to her and so on).She doesn't want to read and spell properly and she takes her own sweet time to do things. Be it bathing, writing or eating, I always have to give her a timeline. Really want to bang my head on the wall. :frustrated:
And if she can't read, she can't do any Maths questions either or read instructions. Any suggestions? TIA!
P.S. I did this to my dd when she was 4 and she is still begging me to repeat this for her at times. I guess we sometimes need to take a break and have a more innovative way of getting things to work (I know how you feel, we just feel so tired of nagging but if we don't nag, then we end up feeling even more exasperated when things are not done) -

Nope. Pls advise publisher.

Just looking at her 听写 list made me even more laid-back because it just doesn't make sense for me to get pressured to get her to write those characters. What's the point ? -
