My gal started off with Yamaha JMC Jan 2008. At that time she was already 5 years 8 months as her b'day falls in the month of April. Comparing to most of her classmates who are either 4 years + or younger, she can be considered \"overage\" in the class. But I would say that is the ideal age for entry! Because she can grasp the teacher's teaching pretty fast and also probably due to interest.
Now she is in the 3rd year - Yamaha JXC and she is expect to copy down notes written on the whiteboard and the teacher given homework to be completed at home. Although as parent I am still allow to attend the lesson with her but that will only for this 3 months and thereafter she has to be on her own. That's why I tell her to copy down the notes from the whiteboard as much as she can and to do her homework once reach home after class. That will train her independency and also to be responsible for her homework
Hope the above helps...Good Day

If she likes music, there is always not too late.

Currently, I’m interested to register my 2 DHs for piano lessons… Can any kind soul advise me on which school is good in teaching nil piano knowledge girls (one is 5 the other is 6). BTW i’m staying in tampines. Is yahama, cristofori or lowrey better for one to one teaching?
Thanks in advance -
Hi Fredia,
If you are choosing between schools, I think it boils down to the teachers, rather than the school itself. In Christofori, it’s a bit like a lucky draw. The 2 kids could be matched with a teacher from grade 8 qualifications to a PhD lecturer. The teachers could hang around for a long or short time. -
thanks

I want to enrol 5 yrs old gal for music lesson and am deciding on Yamaha and Cristofori. Anyone can advise me which is beta? What is the difference in the course structure in the 2 schools?

I have never send my kids to any of this 2 school. But I heard that for Yamaha, their selection of teacher are more \"stricter\". Their teacher MUST have Distinction for their Grade 7 & 8 exam. Don't know how true.

Both schools requires their teacher to have minimum Grade 8 practical, best is with theory as well. most of them have even higher qualifications.
teachers were trained in the schools so shouldn’t be a problem. I am teaching in music school too.
you may consider to get a private piano teacher? from what I know, some teachers do give trial lessons. so perhaps you can sit in and see how’s the teacher is like
