All mummies, Is there anything that you stop eating becos of breastfeeding?

Chillie and tea for DD1; garlic for DD2 and basically nothing for DD3. That's possibly why DD3 is still not fully weaned at 4 yo

Came across this article, thought I'd share it with my BF buddies here. It's just an excerpt from a really interesting read:

I was a La Leche League leader at the time, and all my friends were nursing their toddlers. I couldn’t believe my babies were doing that to me – I was willing to nurse them till they went to college, but there was absolutely no way to convince them to keep nursing. Even withholding food didn’t work. My experience with my next three babies reminded me of the old adage “Be careful what you wish for”, because they all wanted to nurse between 2 ½ and 4 ½ years. I practically had to pry them off with a crowbar. It was interesting to me that the early weaners were all thumb-suckers and blanket holders, while the late weaners were never self-soothers, but used the breast for comfort as well as nutrition. All were breastfed on demand from day one, so I can only assume that individual differences accounted for the different weaning experiences.

I am happy to report that all six have turned out normal and well adjusted, so their radically different weaning schedules apparently didn’t have a long term effect on their development. I’m so glad – with six children, I have plenty of other things to feel guilty about. UNQUOTE

I'm thinking of letting DD self-wean i.e. baby-led wean. She will be 10 months young this National Day. Motherhood is not easy but it shure RAWKS :love:

Hi, my 5yo boy rejected my breast and was formula fed all the way.


My 2yo latched on well and still still breastfeeding today.

Breats feeding is just WAY too difficult in my opinion. I’m a full time SAHM. It was hellish. In her early months, she’d suckle form 6-10pm.There was no escape.

If I were to do it again. I’ll bf for first 6-10 months, then formula till 1 yo, Then full cream milk. I dun understand why breastfeeding, though natural is so tough??!!!

So kudos to all bf moms!

Oh for a mom with both formula fed and breastfed children - my conclusion is they are not much different. Just in my own experience!

Lamb. actually I stop eating since pregnant.
cos heard pregnant eat lamb will cause 羊癫风 ( fits ) or Body Odour.
not sure if same effect for breastfeeding but I certainly don't want my children to have B.O.

BF is a very personal choice , that's why not many people talk about it openly. I know of as many mums who do not breastfed their kids and as I said, its very personal so no matter how close I am to her, I do not ask her why etc....Frankly, i disliked it when I was BF no 1 and no 2 (they were BF for abt a year) but I enjoyed BF no 3 (for abt 1.5yrs)and no 4 (>2yrs now) very much.

I also do not agree that BF mums are kiasu and kiasi....I believe it is every mummy's desire to give the best to their child, be it breastmilk or a good school etc. BF comes with so much difficulties so mummies should not feel guilty if they can't do it....

ya...with the first kiddo, I kind of had to 'cos he had allergies to milk. After a while, it became super convenient...no hassle when travelling ...also I had support at the workplace and at home...so it became a normality!
