Daddy 😧

Ok... I also dunno what MP can do for him...
Apply for waiting list is directly to sch right? Use MP's name can cut Q a not? πŸ˜›
Even if in waiting list... still need to apply Phase2C Sup right?
His 1KM has 1 popular and 1 not popular sch.... popular sch is nearer to his house.... I think many of us in the same scenario.
That'll depend on how is he related to the MP lor.. heehee. just joking..

IMO, being slightly nearer (both < 1km) is not a strong reason.. but then.. no harm trying.. other then getting the expected response/result..
my fren says he lost out on Phase2C balloting last week... going to see MP this week... and putting on waiting list... before Phase2C Supp... got use?

Going to see MP.. to ask for a place? Based on what grounds is he making the request? If that is the ONLY school within 1 km for him.. maybe there is some justification for the request for the child's welfare.. If there is another school within 1km with vacancy.. then chances of success for him would be close to zero.. Probably..

Ok... I also dunno what MP can do for him...
well, MP can either comfort him, or write letter (me remembering J.Neo's movie).

dont understand your statement....... :?

you mean that the mp did a check and found that those who declared that they are staying 1km are actually not?

if so, pls tell us who this mp is, which school is involved and where did you get the info from?

That kind of thing is quite difficult to prove unless you engage a PI.

The only case when it is easy to investigate by the authorities is IF the parent did not update the address on the IC after selling off the property.

If the parent is still legally owning the property as reflected on the IC, but is not staying there, it maybe difficult to prove.

Of coz if the case is very obvious, the authorities can do a random spot check on suspicious cases, and if the property totally never contain any belongings of the child, then it is quite clear cut.

But, in the first place, who is going to do the checks? MOE? do they have such a department? Secondly, if the parents are shrewd enough, they’ll just leave some belongings in the property. How are you going to expose them?

I think he's asking for checks on falsely declared addr...
Does this happen??
As limlim pointed out... if own property... but dun stay in... will still reflect in IC, right? So no case bah...
If rented but not own... then will reflect in IC?
Only the relevant housing authority will check bah... just like those illegal subletting... if no whistle-blower... no one will catch?

sorry but dun think MP so free unless the 'reporting' person has concrete proof. Remember those other parents are also constituents....not just 1 person got rights as citizens/residents.

A bit :offtopic: ....

I was wondering: why is it that we (ie Singaporeans) think that an MP can do everything for us? :?

Can get to a school: get MP to appeal
Kena summoned to Court: get MP to appeal

and on ... and on

Is it just perculiar to us because we have been ... erm... \"socially engineered\"?

Just curious

Hi Gecko,

Yes, I agree, I think it is the way we are brought up, it makes us
too dependent on the government so we expect them to fix it all
for us..

But anyway, it feels like getting balloting day (if any) and PSLE
are among the most stressful days for a parent at least in the
beginning years the child. Wonder how we can be successful parents
without breaking down? πŸ™
