yes thats my plan. for now i headstart him with the language to see how he can cope. come k1 to p1 onwards, i may need a tutor for him to assist him. my hubby's cuzzins all started their chinese language without prior background to it in p1. but i guess its much easier last time? for myself i picked up from watching too much channel 8 when im younger..hahaha

twice a week is good but apparently the 2 centres that i mentioned, only once a week
        ADave,

            Hi,

I heard that Tien Hsia is more focused on exam -readiness and the pace is faster than Berries. Berries has a more fun element to it…

            Anyone can to share?

Tien Hsia offered 1 trial lesson for free. You can call them up to register your child for trial. You have to pay for trial lesson for Berries, around $16+.

Anyway, I have been to both trial lessons for N2, sitting through for half an hour during class and both have fun elements. But I understand that Tien Hsia has some kind of test after each semester, even for nursery.

As for my K2 girl, I sent her to Yuquan, which focused a lot on writing chinese characters - I am amazed that the teacher can get my girl who used to speak nothing but english to write so much chinese characters. Now, she can converse fluently in mandarin after less than a year of lesson.

Having said that, I think for 3- 4 year old kid, better to go for something more fun, instead of classroom style- desk bound.

                Hi,

The test is to capture how much each student learn and is mostly from your usual class lesson.

Moreover before the end term, they also got the performance to present what they have learnt to their parents.

I think that this is the kind of training for the children to tackle their stage fright.

Bu it is also subjective to what parents looking for.

                  Hi jasonirene,

Thanks for the information, I have not heard of Yuquan...so it is better than Berries for learning of Chinese Characters?

                  Where is Yu Quan at?

                      Hi parents,

Anyone heard of Apple Pie at Bukit Timah? I was there recently and saw
the branch, the results looked quite good, anyone know about it?

                        Hi

I am thinking of switching my child from berries to busybees whe he is in P3 next yr. I could not locate their website and neither can I get thru the branch at Balmoral. Does anyone know which branch is better in terms of their teachers, class size ? Is it also true that they focused on creative writing instead of teaching from their textbks?

Reason why I am switching was I noticed that my boy started to "switched off" in class this year as he already learnt the lesson in advance at Berries. I do not like this approach of "teaching in advance" as I though enrichment should expose them more to things outside the textbooks.
