Do all Isetan and OG carries Deuter bags? The Deuter bag looks lighter than the SPI bags.

Which range is the school bags for kids? Looking for a school bag for my ds who would be going to P1 next year. Seems that Deuter is more preferred over SPI.

Hi Parents… I was shopping for a school bag for DS today and was wondering if a Deuter S size backpack (Ergo type) will be enough to fill the daily load for P1 or get a M size ?

The sales lady was telling me that that I shd be getting a bag that fits my little one properly (i.e. S size or else will defeat the Ergo purpose) & not worry about whether it will be enough to fill the load. She says the kid can always take an extra handcarry/file to school.
So I took her advice but I’ll need to wait for the next shipment for DS choice color.
What do u think since I still hv the choice to choose.

OG sales girl didn't even mention there are different sizes. Only found out after I checked the label. Apparantly I bought a size S.
I find the bag too 'thin'. On days that my dd needs to bring bigger files to school, it's kind of a squeeze.

Hi All Seniors,

I’m currently looking for a Deuter Bag for my little girl who is attending P1 next year… Is a size S enough for her daily use??? She is kinda of petite, hence a M would be too big for her…
There is an orientation scheduled in Nov… Would the teachers advise us on the kind of bags to use during then…
Any advice would be greatly appreciated…

Seems like there's lots of interest on the Deuter. I bought one for DD who's in P1 this year. So here's a pic review of the Scholar ACT S.


Deuter is a German brand who are well known for their hiking packs. I suspect that the 'ergo' series of school bags are not in their product lineup as they are not in their website or on the web for that matter. In any case, many of the features of their hiking packs, such as the ACT are found here. ACT is acronym for their Air Contact system, where there is a channel between the back and the pack for cooling.

The schoolbag is in its 3rd iteration and comes in S, M, L. The only difference of all 3 is simply the design and pocket placement. Thus I would grab the cheapest - which is the discontinued one.

This is the discon Scholar model - SMALL size - in blinding 2-tone red.

The ACT. Supposed to cool the wearer's back. There is a thin waist strap and no sternum strap.

As you can see, the Small size fits an A4 folio exactly with some allowance. So for P1/small sized kids, small IS sufficient. This is the load DS carry on any day. No sweat!

What I like about the Deuter:
- It's light! Don;t forget you still have books, snacks and a water bottle.
- Minimal padding where it matters. This reduces bulkiness and weight.
- Nylon is similar to the company's hiking packs, adequate for the educational jungle.
- Compact with 2 large pockets in front and 2 elastic ones on the side for bottles.
- Zippers with fabric pulltabs.
- Newer models come with snazzy prints and all the colors in a kid's fav palette. Blue, red, green, orange. But no pink...

Where to buy - cheap.
- OG during sale (like now) at 20% off
- some warehouse sales carry it below $100 especially end of year when school's about to start.

My ds1 also carry deuter bag. Not the ‘ergo’ type, just the normal backpack. Use it for the 6th year already. Bought it for P1. Now P6 still using. And that time when buy got 50% discount, so only cost $30 plus. Most things can go in but sometimes he need to bring more stuff so need to carry extra hand-carry type.


My ds2 use adidas backpack. 2nd year now, still ok.
