Waiting to happen... with the YOG bus drivers driving like they are KINGs of the road...

I had my first close encounter with YOG today. Well, I must say, this once-in-a-lifetime experience is for real cos I don't think I will buy a ticket to another country to watch unless my child is a participant in any of the events.

d way some of them were driving,
it was a matter of time.
Last Wed when it was raining heavily on d PIE,
              heading towards d East ard 1 - 2 pm,
one YOG coach kept on d 3rd/2nd centre lane,
regardless if it was d reserved YOG lane cos
              PIE lanes vary from 4 -> 3 -> 4 -> 3 in some sections.;
while on its left, another YOG coach was trying to filter into TP
so at some stretches, there was only 1 lane left for other traffic.
              Haiz..

              :slapshead:

MOE bought the tickets for the students to watch for free and yet there were so many complains of school forcing students to support the YOG.. so sad..

Some couldn't get the tickets even if they wanted to pay for it in hard cash..

                      We forget our own, again

Ms Lynette Ng, ST forum 23rd Aug 2010:
“I agree with Mr. Richard Low’s letter last Thursday.
I am the sister of a YOG athlete. My family of four
had to purchase our own tickets to watch my brother compete.
At the opening ceremony, he was one of the flag bearers,
and for that too we had to purchase our own tickets.
The amount spent on tickets came to over $1,200.
Family members, or at least the parents, of YOG athletes
should be given free or discounted tickets.”

YOG athletes and officials are given all expenses paid
trip to participate in this YOG.
Has SYOGOC forgotten to take care of its own people?
Not every family can afford $1,200 to support their kid. 😞

Plenty of relatives of YOG athletes paid their own way to SG and buy their own tickets too.

Even more of the overseas YOG athletes would not have a relative in attendance at this event.

Why do they need to spend $1200? Brother, sister, parents, granduncle all need to attend every match?

                        A bit unreasonable, I think.....
