      Hi

My son goes to the toilet once every hour or two. Is that too frequent? He does not drink a lot of water. I asked him if he felt any pain or discomfort in the stomach or when he urinated and he said he didnt. He will turn 4 year in Sep this year. Any advice or good doc to recommend?

      Thanks

I’d like to know too, because my 3.5 yo daughter keeps going to the potty every 30-40 minutes to pee! I don’t remember my older girl going with such frequency and am wondering if I should be concerned…

          Hi Marsilingmom

I sent my boy for urine and blood tests to rule out any physical causes. Doc said probably psychological reasons otherwise he will be going to the toilet constantly even at night or wet his bed which he wasn't.

Reasons could be fear, excitement or to escape from something he doesn't want to do. Also children don't have to be constantly reminded to drink or pee cos they will do it when they need to. Some kindy teachers have strict toilet rules so children will go whenever they are allowed to... I think that's about everything he said. So I now leave him to drink and pee in peace 😉 Hope this is useful.

When my 3.5yo boy started potty training (around 2yo), he went every 30-40 minutes because he was afraid of an ‘accident’. Now, he goes every 1-2 hours. I think it’s normal because their bladder is so small and they just started learning to control their bladder.

If there’s no pain or discomfort, should not be a cause for worry.
