Will the additional of 7 IP schools under MOE reduce the cut-off points for admission into these existing 11 IP schools under MOE in time to come?
Other potential schools not mentioned so far in this thread:

I don't think the addition of the new IP schools will reduce the COP for admission to the existing 11 IP schools, at least not for the top few schools like RI, RGS, HCI, NYGH... These have proven track records especially with overseas Universities. I see the new 7 IPs as more like 2nd tier IP schools. So if there's any dilution in COP for IP schools, they're more likely for the less popular existing IP schools.

It is all about supply and demand. The COPs for IP schools will drop and more IP schools is one of the factors. Other factors such as smaller cohort by each year and the gaps between the weaker and stronger are also getting closer will result in lower T score and cause the COPs for IP schools to drop (if u understand how T score is calculated).

If u calculate the vacancies for all Uni in Sg, you will realize that they can easily take in 30% of each year cohort. So at the end of the day, I believe the government wants the top 20% to do IP.

With more choices for IP programmes in future, it will probably be then a choice of independent or non-independent schools to many.

L1R5 is no longer important & HMT deduction of 2 points is also irelevant now?

Great news... Hope Cresent makes it to IP school

existing 11 IP schools, each has about 450 sec 1 intakes = 4950, against a cohort size of say 40,000, it is already 12.4%.......(ok, given NJC,NUSH may not be up to 450 yet)

this additional 7 IP schools could be the result of the outcry to have more people wanting to get into IP but did not get reduced weightage in MT hence lower t-score .............

              The http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/secondary-one-posting/general-information/programmes/integrated-programmes/ under MOE are:

              1. Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) \t
              2. Dunman High School \t
              3. Hwa Chong Institution
              4. Nanyang Girls’ High School
              5. National Junior College
              6. Raffles Girls’ School (Sec)
              7. Raffles Institution
              8. River Valley High School
              9. NUS High School of Mathematics and Science
              10. Temasek Junior College
              11. Victoria Junior College

Will the additional of 7 IP schools under MOE reduce the cut-off points for admission into these existing 11 IP schools under MOE in time to come?

              1. http://www.anglicanhigh.moe.edu.sg/
              2. http://www.nanchiauhigh.moe.edu.sg/

http://www.sota.edu.sg/ and http://www.sportsschool.edu.sg/ are also IP schools with 'O' level tracks but not under MOE. Correct me if I am wrong.
              Thanks.

Likely to be the consistent Band I sec schools such as Cedar, CHIJ St Nick, Crescent, SCGS, VS, BPHS.

Nan Chiau is unlikely as this is only their first year in Band I. Also Band I schools who have Normal stream intake may be affected too eg Anderson.

Oh there seem to be more girls' Band I schools! 😉

UNLESS: For these new IP schools, not everyone in it will enjoy IP status. Only the top students will enjoy it while the rest progress on the O level route.
                according to the Rally Speech:
                64. We will expand the Integrated Programme (IP) for express students

                a. For students confident of making it to university

                b. Skip O-levels, go straight to A-levels or International Baccalaureate, and hence spend more time developing their interests and capabilities

                c. Currently 11 schools on IP

                i. Programme has been successful - First 3 batches of IP graduates did well at A-levels or IB

                d. Will extend the IP to 7 more schools

                i. All new schools will have both IP and non-IP tracks, and students can switch between them

ii. So students who do not get into IP after PSLE can still do so later

See transcript of full speech http://www.pmo.gov.sg/News/Speeches/Prime+Minister/National+Day+Rally+2010+Speech+%28English%29+by+PM+Lee+at+University+Cultural+Centre+NUS.htm.

Good summary... again hoping that going forward, PSLE and Olevel will be things of a past. Everyone should only take either A or IB for entrance to Uni.
This will allow the children to enjoy the school activities better and also giving slower children to mature in time.
The Govt is getting there now (slowly but surely) hopefully.

Some of the schools that didn’t get IP status have some of their top students draining away in the last few years. Examples are Saint Nick, SCGS etc…

Concern about IP in these schools that have smaller pocket of "university bounded" students is that they will not have enough threshold number of students to offer all the A level subjects. For example, if the school has only 50 students doing IP, and out of this 50 students, 15 want to do humanities subjects like literature, history, geography and 35 wants to do science subjects. And when under humanities subjects and science subjects, there are many more subject combinations. Will MOE just send teachers to teach classes with just a few to 10 students? Wouldn’t it be very resource taxing. This problem is OK for ACSI because they are independent school and rich and can employ extra teachers to handle the situation. Will the subject combinations in these smaller IP schools be restricted then?

Straits Times says likely schools include Cedar Girls and Victoria School. SJI also likely.

Quote from The Straits Times dated Monday, August 30 2010 Page A3:

\"The Strait Times understands that Cedar Girls' Secondary School and Victoria School are among the schools that the IP will be extended to. St Joseph's Institution had also earlier submitted a proposal to offer the IP.\"

My guess for the 7 more schools to offer IP on dual tracks:

You raise a valid point. I suppose these schools have to find the right partner in an established JC. Hence MGS-ACJC/ACSI or SJI/CJC seem obvious and natural choices.
